Unnamed Pacific Island

"I have an idea," Godzilla weakly raises his head out of the water, speaking to the other MUTOs through their psychic web, "but you aren't going to like it."

After returning to the Pacific Islands following their unsuccessful attempts to locate Acacius, Battra and Solomon sit idly alongside Mothra and Godzilla. Rodan and Anguirus listen through the mental connection from a island a few miles away. The group's external idleness masks deep inner thought as each monster tries to plan for the inevitable arrival of the first MUTO.

No help would be coming in the immediate future. The Saint, Acacius, was nowhere to be found, the only one knowing his location having died. Despite the fact that the first MUTO's aim was to destroy Earth's native life, no help would come from the humans who were more likely to attack the monsters than aid them at this point. Four MUTOs and two Kaiju against a force which Solomon claimed was so immensely powerful the six of them wouldn't stand a chance.

Solomon, who had been connected to Mothra's psychic web since his return to the island, looks curiously toward Gojira.

"If this...MUTO is as powerful as you say–" Godzilla starts.

"And he is," Solomon interrupts.

"–then we need time more than anything," Godzilla continues, "time to find this Saint of yours."

"Time which we don't have," Soloman says.

"Unless–" Godzilla coughs weakly, plasma pouring from what's left of his mouth, "unless we can delay the MUTO, slow him down enough that you can find...Acacius."

"And how do you propose we do that?" Soloman asks, "We what? Attack him when he shows up, injure him? You propose an attack? I know you're a Gojira but you must have more common sense than that. It won't work, even if we can mount some sort of offensive powerful enough to weaken him, that's all we'd do, weaken him. By the time we wore him down, made his injuries too great for him to start destroying the ecosystem, we'd all be dead. Then nobody can awaken Acacius."

Godzilla laughs lightly, bringing about another fit of coughing, when it ends he speaks again. "It's true, I only think in terms of offense," he breathes deeply, "but not all of us have to die."

"No," Mothra says, having guessed Godzilla's plan, "absolutely not."

The King of the Monsters stands up, steam rising from the water around him. "Mothra," he says, "look at me, I'm going to die anyway, and I'll have to leave the island to avoid injuring you. I might as well try to be useful."

His body clearly shows his time is limited, his meltdown reaching advanced stages. Glowing bright red, the plasma in his blood shines through his skin in most places, and drips out of injuries in others. It burns his flesh so quickly that his incredible rate of healing can't keep up, wounds that would normally heal remain. His jaw and right arm below the elbow are devoid of flesh. His battle with MechaGodzilla II also left a large portion of his rib cage exposed, and a length of barbed cable embedded in the bone still hangs from his torso. In addition, the damage to his sensory organs has advanced to the point where he is now completely blind and deaf. Even his brain has begun to suffer from the damaging effects of the meltdown, as his memory begins to grow fuzzy and his thoughts jumble.

"And you expect to..." Battra says, "fight the MUTO in your state? What good will that do?"

"Ahh," Solomon says, "I see, what he's getting at. Not a bad idea actually, it could work."

"Hm?" Battra asks, "Am I missing something?"

Mothra sighs, "the meltdown, he wants to use it as a weapon."
