Creed was still in shock as Song walked out the door. He certainly did not expect that from her. He had to admit that Onyx was right, Song did understand more than he ever imagined that she would. Creed sighed and went to his bag. Reaching in the inside pocket, he grabbed his contact case. Back to the gray eyes. He walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Being honest with himself, he was glad to see those eyes again, it almost made him feel like himself.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Creed walked from the bathroom to the front door and opened it cautiously. It was Onyx.
"I knew you were going to do something foolish!" Onyx exclaimed.
"What are you talking about?"
Onyx pushed past Creed and came inside the Valor house, "You've got your contacts in. You're going back!"
"Yes, and I did what you said. I talked to Song about it, and she supported my decision wholeheartedly." Creed explained.
"You're lying," Onyx retorted.
"Come on, use your head, if I was going to lie to you. I would have been long gone by now and you wouldn't find me." Creed spat.
"So you're going to just walk in there and say 'I'm back'?"
"Basically."
Onyx jaw dropped, "Okay that's it! You're out of your mind."
"No, I'm not, I went to the Gate, and I do have more information on the Shadows. It's really not as hard as you're making it."
Onyx shook his head in disbelief, "You have information on the Shadows?"
"Yeah, Song got this book that she's been reading and she just told me about. Remember? A Night of Shadows? Me and Song have been talking about it," Creed replied.
Onyx felt a little jealous that Song told Creed something important about the Shadows, that she had not shared with him.
Creed saw the look on his face, "Don't look jealous."
Onyx looked away faking embarrassment, "I'm not jealous!"
"Boy, you're getting soft on me, it was just a joke," Creed replied and laughed.
Onyx could not hold back his smile. "Nah, I just thought that you could have mentioned that earlier, since you're at my house religiously."
"Yeah, yeah, so I'm going back and I'm going to be fine."
"So where's Song?" Onyx asked.
"Out doing what she does best: Shadowhunting."
Onyx laughed, "Of course, she is The Great Liberator. Well, brother, I wish you the best of luck. And stay safe." He shook Creed's hand before nodding and walking out the door.
Creed watched Onyx walk away until he could no longer make out his figure. He knew that Onyx was concerned about him, but he knew that he was going to be fine. He had new information on the Shadows and he was a well known Shadowhunter himself. Shortly after Onyx left, Creed got ready to head over to the Tunnels. This time he was not nervous, he strolled through the town calmly almost feeling relieved that he was going back home.
Not much time elapsed before Creed was able to arrive at the Tunnels. He went through the back passage and allowed his eyes to adjust to the dim light. Within the first few minutes, he heard people shouting his name. He was flocked by his fellow Shadowhunters. His brothers and sisters, they were all asking him questions. But it was so many of them he could not make anything out clearly, because they were all talking at once.
"Alright, alright! I'll take questions, one at a time." Creed smiled.
In the town, Song wiped sweat from her brow and turned to Kai.
"Great job, you're showing some skills there," she smiled.
"Well, I learned from the best," Kai laughed. "How many souls have we liberated so far?"
"We started at around 8:30 and it's almost 10, we have liberated at least twenty souls." Song reflected.
"Sounds good, so how have things been going?"
"Pretty well, and you?" Song asked.
"I-I-I have to tell you something," he said quietly.
"I knew that, but you're not usually one to come to me with questions."
Kai stopped in his tracks and said, "Song, it's serious." She stopped walking and turned to him.
"What is it?" Song whispered, beginning to grow on edge.
"I think I saw Onyx's parents yesterday."
Song's eyes went wide.
Creed had explained his 'story' to the SSS. He went to the Gate, not quite to the Second Dimension, but he came to the realization that the Gate was extremely weak. So weak, that it was unable to hold the Shadows in their own dimension. He noticed that the Gate had never been so weak, therefore he had come to the conclusion that the light from the Guardian's amulet was a critical part of keeping the Gate strong, and holding back the Shadows. He ended his 'explanation' with a dramatic tale of how he barely escaped with his life, which actually had a lot of truth in it.
Afterwards, he had to wait to have a meeting with the heads of the SSS. On the way there, he quickly slipped to the Memorial of Fallen Hunters and picked up his parents amulet and put them in his back pocket without anyone noticing.
He came to the tunnel were he was supposed to have his meeting.
"Come in, Creed." A voice told him.
Once Creed stepped into the tunnel, it dimly lit and he could see the two major heads of the SSS. A man and a woman.
"Congratulations on your accomplishment. You are truly growing into a great Shadowhunter." The man complimented.
"Yes, your parents would be proud of you, now tell us. Why did you really come back?" The woman asked.
Creed was shocked that he was being asked, "Why not, I was born and raised here."
The woman continued, "Yes, and you took your things before you went on your mission."
Creed chose his words carefully, feed them a little truth and they will buy it, like his father always said. "I stayed with Song before I left. I care about her and I wasn't sure if I was going to come back. So, I decided to stay the night with her." After the last sentence, Creed hoped they did not take this the wrong way.
"Song Valor? Cadence's daughter?" The man asked.
He nodded.
The woman smiled, looking at the man, "Well, some strong Shadowhunters should come from their union."
Creed nearly choked. "Um, we don't have a union quite yet." They took it the wrong way!
The woman laughed, "We know, Creed. You're not an easy one to pin down, it was a joke."
"Now all jokes aside, we have a serious matter to discuss with you." The man said. He continued in a grim voice, "The Guardians are back."
Creed's eyes lit up, he thought that the return of the Guardians would be a good thing, but from the sound of his voice and the look on their faces, it must not be.
