Song made her way to Room 170 and was shocked to see who was occupying it, Onyx's mother. With anger and confusion attempting to fog her mind, she quickly turned on her heels.
"Please don't go," a weak, shaking voice called out to her.
Song looked over her shoulder to see soft, pretty hazel eyes slowly blinking at her.
"You look just like your mother, but you have your father's eyes. Please come here," she begged.
Song's feet had a mind or their own as she moved towards her. The woman's amulet was beautiful, jade is such a rare amulet color. When she looked at the woman's face, she saw a stream of tears.
"I'm so sorry, are you okay? Is Laric okay? I had no control. I'm sorry," she rambled as she wept non stop.
"We're okay, and so are you now. Once you get better, you can return to being a Guardian," Song encouraged, feeling sympathetic for her.
"No, I'm still an outlaw, and I have to find my husband. Now that I'm no longer infected, I may be able to help him before he destroys himself."
"Is that what you wanted to tell me?"
"No, you're a Shadowhunter, like your mother, the way her mind worked was amazing. Some Shadowhunters develop special powers that enhance their natural abilities. Some of these powers have names while others do not, but they all have conditions. Your mother was full of love, and her special power was Blinding Radiance. If you look deep, you may find that you have a special power as well." She explained.
"Do you have one?"
"Yes, that's how I know. In the SSS, not everyone is a Shadowhunter. Some people do research, some organize missions, and others do service missions which helps the town. There are two kinds of Shadowhunters. Level one are Shadowhunters with no enhanced ability; then there are level two, the hunters who have enhanced abilities. Some hunters are level twos and they don't even know it. Level twos, have Shadowhunter weapons, either passed down to them or the Gate gifts it to them. When the weapon is passed down it has to allow the hunter to use it or it will be of no use at all."
"Wait the Gate can give hunters weapons? How does that happen?" Song asked clearly perplexed.
"The Gate and the Shadowhunter weapons are made with the same metal, the Gate gifts us almost as if to say that it's on our side. How it does it, no one really knows. Well, I hope I have given you something to fight the Shadows with. If I die, I'm a peace that I made amends with Cadence through you."
Song smiled at the woman fighting back tears, "My mother had a good friend, thank you." She went towards the door.
"Song," she stopped and turned around, "my ability is Regenerative Healing." Song's raised her eyebrows inquisitively.
"Won't that heal you?"
"Even the greatest powers don't make you invincible, but I must admit that it is one of the reasons that I am healing now even though I have lost much blood," the woman replied.
"I'm sorry-" Song started.
"No, never apologize for doing the right thing."
Song smiled lightly, appreciative that this woman had forgiven her, "Get better soon-"
"Jade Isoza," the woman completed Song's sentence. They smiled at each other, but Song left the hospital room. She walked down the hall, about to leave when she saw him. He smiled at her, but she did not return it.
"Song, hey-" he started as he attempted to hug her.
"What did you say to Creed?" Song asked as she backed away from him.
"Things that I wish I never said," Onyx whispered as he looked down at his feet.
"Make amends with him, then you can talk to me," Song pushed past him.

Onyx was slightly frustrated that Song had just brushed him off like that, but he knew he deserved it. He walked to the front desk, "Is Jade Isoza here?"
"Room 170, critical care. Down the hall to your right," the young woman at the desk replied without even looking up from the chart she was working on. Onyx followed her directions and shortly arrived to the room. The door was open, slowly he walked in and saw her.
Those hazel eyes fluttered open, "Onyx," she smiled weakly. Seeing her in this state nearly brought Onyx to tears. He walked over to her side and grabbed her tan hand, it was so cold.
"Mom what happened? Where have you been? What have you and dad done?" Question behind question he asked.
"I'm sorry, son, the Shadows had us in their grip. I would still be on the dark path had a Valor not thrown a knife in my back. I attacked her for her mother's Shadowhunter weapon," his mother sadly admit.
"Where's dad?"
"The Shadows have him, once I get strong enough I must go back and help him."
"No, I'll save him," Onyx vowed. He knew that it would be awhile before his mother was in any shape to confront his father, especially being under the Shadows control. His parents worked hard to make a name for themselves and in turn their family, now it was his turn to bring honor to the Isoza name.
"How's Aura?"
"She's restless, I've been keeping her in the house to protect her when I go out on missions. I left Team Liberate and have been training to become the Guardian in your absence. My training will be finished in a few days. Song and I also managed to save Zuri from Capital Q. You and dad's hunch was right, it had become a feeding ground for Shadows. So we created a little disturbance to get some people out. Zuri she's been staying with us right now and has been great company for Aura. But she will be leaving soon to go back to the SSS." Onyx went on to catch his mother up with his recent adventures.
She smiled, "You've been a man on a mission. I'm so proud of you. While your father and I were on the run, we thought about you and your sister everyday. We had a good run, accepting our fate us outlaws, saving souls along the way. But one mistake cost us our souls."
"What happened?"
"On the way, back to the small house we were renting, the Shadows began the nine to midnight run. We had just gotten back to the house in the nick of time. We were searching for the lights and when we cut them on, we were surrounded by them. We had forgotten to close the bedroom windows, so the Shadows creeped in. They have been having us to do their dirty work since then, bringing our family name to shame."
"Don't worry, I will restore honor to the Isoza name. It's the name of legendary Shadowhunters, it has always been and always will be. Get better soon mom and come back home, we need you."
Tears fell from her eyes as she hugged her son, "I need you too. No matter what happens we love you."
"I love you too," Onyx replied, taking his fingers to wipe his mother's tears away. He walked towards the door, glancing over his shoulder to see her face once more. Leaving the hospital, Onyx hoped for the best, yet was prepared for the worst. Regardless to what would happen next, he knew that she loved him. He thought about Creed and for the first time he felt bad about what had transpired between them. Creed never knew his mother's love. He never got the chance to look in her eyes or hear the sound of her voice. He took one deep breath and decided that he would take some time and think of how to earn his brotherhood back. Creed was his hunting partner and lived at the SSS full time, so Onyx could stay at home with his family. He visited the tunnels for assessments and training every so often, but Creed dedicated his life to the cause, which in turn gave Onyx the chance to be a kid and grow up at a more normal pace. He never really took time to realize just how much of Creed's personal life he had willing gave up so that he could have freedom. Onyx vowed to own up to his mistakes and work to make amends to their relationship.
