Later that day, Song and Creed had left Kai and Free in a Shadowhunting arena. Young hunters from all walks of life were flooding the arena. Kai had did an amazing job decorating the place. There were posters of famous Shadowhunters all over the walls, there was a huge spotlight on the battlezone, food and drinks in buffet, he had outdone himself. Kai was currently DJing some music. The amateur hunters were really having a good time. Creed had a hard time leaving with Song because everyone wanted autographs. It took almost an hour for Free to help them slip out.
"This tournament actually is working pretty well. There's barely any hunters on the street, which is good," Creed told Song as they jogged through the town. He felt his amulet go crazy and he clutched his chest.
"Creed!" He turned to the nearest building and faced the wall, ready to punch a hole through it. Song ran to his side and grabbed his hands before he could do so, "What's wrong?"
"I feel his presence and every part of me wants to hunt him now, get him now. But I promised Onyx two days. After that, we're going to find each other and fight it out. It's killing me to wait like this, but I have to have discipline," he took several deep breaths. He touched Song's cheek, "Don't worry, I'm okay Song, let's get off these streets."
"Okay, let's get to the SSS," Song nodded. She looked deep into Creed's eyes and thought she could a faint red color in his irises. "Don't forget to put your contacts in."
"I can't my eyes don't feel right because I'm suppressing my hunter instincts, my entire body is feeling a bit off, but I can make it two days. I have to. If I put the contacts in, it will alter my vision, can't have that."
"Okay, if you need something let me know," Song reminded him as they continued jogging.
"I will," Creed smiled. He really hoped he had enough control to hold out for two days. It didn't take much time for the pair to reach the SSS. It was almost eight in the evening, most of the hunters were probably finishing missions, giving him and Song plenty of time to do some digging. Once they slipped in, Creed led her through the tunnels, but he wanted her to take a peek at the Memorial for Fallen Hunters. "You can't make a sound. The guards have just recovered from the attack so they are bound to be a little more on edge. We don't want to scare them, but I'm telling you this is one of the most beautiful sites you're ever going to see."
They tiptoed to the edge of the tunnels which led to the memorial, Song had to stifle a gasp. It was so beautiful. Amulets glowing in all sorts of colors lighting up the darkness of the tunnels. One side of the tunnels was covered with amulets of every color known to man and the other side was empty. She knew that it was the side that probably once held the Shadowhunter weapons. She felt Creed pull her hands and she knew that she had to go. The pair quietly left and they headed to the research tunnels, "So, are you going to tell me about your special abilities?" Song stopped and turned to him.
"I know what you're about to say, but if I knew more about it then I would tell you. But, it's something that you feel. I feel my ability, but I really don't know what it is. It's almost like introducing yourself and you don't know what to say. Let's just say, I know when a hunter is not right, I can sense it and it drives me crazy. Like an itch that you can't scratch. This ability made me who I am and allowed me to protect the hunters of this society from daywalkers. It's a firewall."
"Firewall?"
"Yes, literally," Creed replied, "and I call it incinerate."
"Destroy by fire," Song whispered.
"Exactly," Creed sighed, "But, why do I get this feeling that you aren't telling me something."
"My mind has been running nonstop, flooded by memories, plans, everything. It's getting more and more intense, since talking to Onyx's mom. I'm not sure if talking to her woke me to something that was dormant or ignited something completely new."
