I woke up at 8 am unable to sleep anymore as I moved downstairs around 8:30 to have breakfast. If I couldn’t sleep I could as well make use of the time.
You can call me rich, but I’m not quite lazy. I used to stand up around 6 am every morning to run for an hour every morning before going to school. I did that untill I moved to London, running in London annoys me, there are always people in the way really…
I didn’t feel like going through the whole morning process. Showering, doing my hair, who was here to impress anyways? Right, no one. Let me mention I’m in the black hole of this earth, remember?
I simply slipped on a sweatpants, t-shirt and my sneakers as I got downstairs and ate something, leaving a message on the table for Harry saying I was out for a bit.
Stepping outside after pulling on my jacket a nice cold breeze hit me. The sun was shinning already and I kinda missed it, eventhough I didn’t want to admit it. Hearing the birds singing their morning songs, instead of hearing the frustrated motorists honking.
I passed a view people who smiled, waved or greeted and I couldn’t help it but wonder if they reconized me. The trees got less and less as I eventually reached the beach and smiled weakly. It wasn’t much of a beach. Not like an overheated place where the water was the only option to cool yourself down next to the ice and cold drinks people sold in beachcafe’s.
In the firstplace, no beachcafe could be found here, the wind would never be hard enough to go surfing and the weather was hardly ever warm enough to swim eventhough I have to admit this place seemed to become sunnier and sunnier. I followed the way starting to walk up an hill and eventually reached the old church smiling weakly.
I reached out for the door and pushed it open slowly, only to find something I hadn’t expect would be there.
A library?
Last time I walked in here it was the typical old church everyone came to to pray and relieve their sins.
I frowned and stepped inside walking in. The smell was different as well, not the incense they used to use, but the smell of old books and it wasn’t even bad.
“Can I help you?” He nearly jumped when I felt an hand on my shoulder and let out a shaky breathe. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” I turned to face an older man.
“Look at you all grown up.” I smiled weakly, facing his old history teacher from primary school. “It’s been a while Liam.” “It sure is mi-“ “Call me Christopher or Chris, just like everyone else.” The older man insisted. “What brings you here?” He asked curciously.
“Oh, my friend and I made a bet.. He wanted to see if I could survive here for 6 months.” I said softly. Survive.. That kinda sounded like I insulted this man’s livingplace and my own birthplace pretty much.
“I see.” The older man chuckled. “Do you want some tea?” I smiled, he always used to ask that. I absolutely loved history and would stay on school longer just to read books or listen to this man’s story but not before me offered him a cup of tea.
“Please.” I said softly. “You can settle in the back. There’s a fire place. My grandson Niall might be hanging there, but he won’t mind.” Chris told me, walking away. I just nodded and took of his jacket walking off to the back as I noticed a boy with bleached blonde hair.
He was laying on the ground in front of the fireplace on his stomach, bright blue eyes scanning the pages of an old book with pure joy and interested, so taken away in the story he didn’t even notice I walked by.
I thought the boy was utterly beautiful. I guess he’s around the same age as me. I nearly walked in on the couch being so distracted by the boys features as I squaked, making the boy look up and making me notice the plastic small studs in his nose making me frown as the boy frowned back in confusion by the stranger, aka me.
“Niall right?” The boy only looked more confused. “Your grandfather told me your name, he’s getting us tea.” I explained. “Oh..” He mumbled softly as he watched me settle onto the couch. “What are you reading?” Secretly there was a different question I wanted to ask. I wanted to know all about those studs, but well, I can be rude, just not with things like this.
“The never ending story.” He said softly. I frowned. “That’s a movie right?” “There’s a book too.” He nearly cheered. “I saw the movie when I was younger. It’s nice.” He smiled weakly as Chris joined us and put the tea down on the small table in front of me. “Enjoy.” He chuckled settling down as he put Niall’s tea on the ground next to him. I heard the boy groan and looked down. “Come on Niall, just take them.” I noticed the pills Chris handed him and frowned yet again.
“It’s not like they’re helping anways.” The blonde protested, but he took them anyway. Chris noticed my expression and gestured "later" as I nodded.
“So, Liam, what have you been up to?” Chris asked, settling on the other couch on the opposite of me as he looked up at me curiously. “I’m in my last year of highschool.” I chuckled.
“So, you gonna pass you exams?” “I think so.” “You still play basketball?” “Sometimes, more as a hobby though.” “Niall plays basketball.” The boy looked up and bit his lip. “Or well, he’s having a break, but he’s a good player.” I nodded. “We should play together sometime.” I suggested with a wink as somehow, the boys eyes lighted up slightly.
After another hour of talking to Chris and secretly glancing at the most beautiful human ever created having his nose stuck in a book, Chris walked me back to the front door.
“About Niall..” He said softly. “I know you’re not staying for that long and I don’t expect anything from you, but that basketball offer.. I’d really like it if you’d want to take him out sometime.”
Chris said softly. “Will do.” I said. “But those studs..?” I asked softly, hoping to hear about something that would just pass soon.
“Niall has lung cancer.”
So how about that fellows? Am I messing with ur feels already?! Haha ;D
