Chapter Twenty-Two:
~*Aric*~
His hand gripped hers desperately. "Kat..." He breathed, tears rushing to his eyes. "Please..." Tears were streaming down his face. "I love you, Kat. Don't do this to me. I just found you." He burried his head in her shoulder, and her skin was cold to the touch.
Why was it every time he came in she was sprawled on the floor? What had his mate done to deserve this? She'd been nothing but loving to him. He hadn't meant to hurt her! He LOVED her for chrissake!
She suddenly bolted up under Aric, and he moved back to give her space. Her eyes were glowing, literally. They shone a brilliant shade of green, like the kind a perfect tree turns in the sumer. So lucious. She blinked and it was gone.
Aric was sure it'd been a trick of the light. But then Katalina spoke.
~*Katalina*~
"I have to get to the forest!" She yelled, shoving past Aric. Aric stood, gripping her wrist.
"Kat! Wait a second!" He demanded, his tears ceasing, the remaining ones falling off his cheeks. Katalina turned to look at him and she saw the tears. She paused, the forest forgotten for a moment.
"Aric," she breathed, "are you crying? Why are you crying?" She turned and put her hands on either side of his face. He leaned into her hands and sighed.
"You were thrashing, Kat. I didn't know what was going on," he explained, opening his eyes and revealing a deep fear and anxiety for her.
She closed her eyes and when she opened her eyes they were once again green. Katalina felt the forest's power, emotion, and love coursing through her. Her eyes burned in a strange sensation, and where ever she looked she saw details she'd never seen before.
Everything was heightened; hearing, smelling, and she could taste his desperation in her mouth. Katalina breathed in slowly. It was overwhelming, everything she was feeling.
But at the same time it was magnificent. Katalina blinked and her eyes were the back to before. "Aric, I'm sorry, but I have to get to the forest." She didn't know why. Something was telling her, pulling her to go to the forest. But she couldn't leave Aric, she needed something normal in this with her. She drug Aric with her down the hall, to the front door where she slipped on some tennis shoes, the whole way Aric protesting.
"Kat! Why? You need to sleep, your not alright!" Aric resisted slightly, and Katalina skidded to a stop. "Kat!" Aric hissed. "You were just on a bed, thrashing and screaming! The next your dragging me into the forest!"
Katalina looked him in the eye and she didn't have to blink for them to flash green. She said, smiling slightly, in a happy, excited way. "Aric!" She started, letting go of his hand. "I AM the forest!" And she turned and ran.
She was too fast to be human. Aric smiled after her. She was amazing. She IS the forest. Beautiful. Aric ran after her.
When she got there, Aric saw Katalina staring at something. But when Aric arrived, whatever Katalina had been staring at was gone. She looked at Aric, her eyes blue and scared. "He was here, Aric."
"Who, Kat?" He ran to her, his smile he'd just been wearing gone. "Who?" He demanded, grabbing her shoulder somewhat roughly.
"Kent. He--his wolf." Katalina said, searching his eyes for the strength she needed to continue. She took a breath, closed her eyes, and said, "He said, 'Highway 45,' Aric. Can you explain to me," she breathed, "why Kent knows the exact highway that my cousin Max and I crashed on?"
