Chapter Twenty-Five:
~*Katalina*~
She screamed. She couldn't help it! That dumb bastard, she thought harshly as she cradled her wrist in pain.
"Sorry, didn't mean to step on you, worthless. You okay?" The one and only Henry said. Where had he come from? The last she'd seen he'd been unconscious with pain after Sam-- "Oh, nevermind. I don't care if you're okay."
Katalina's lip turned into a delicate frown as she stayed in her corner of the cell. "Wow, thanks, Henry. I care sooo much about you too."
"Shut up and stay in the corner like a good little human." Henry said carelessly as he tossed a hand in the air in mock-agitation.
Katalina was irritated that he had used being human against her. But then again, having this connection wasn't something human's excepted. So was she really human?
As if to prove her point, Katalina's back suddenly arched and she screamed out in pain once again.
~*Aric*~
Aric watched in horror as the rouge that had come out of nowhere attacked his father. Aric went to help his father, but was stopped by Kent, by his...brother. "Hi, little brother."
"What do you want, you worthless rouge?" Aric snapped, his arms rigid at his sides.
Kent tsked. "Now, now, we don't want to get your little mate in trouble do we?"
As if one cue, there was a loud, harsh yell. Aric felt his muscles tighten, his blood slowing almost to a freeze. But it wasn't from Katalina, it was too close.
It was from his dad. Aric took another step forward, momentarily distracted. But a moment was all Kent needed, he lunged for Aric, pushing him to the ground.
"Get off of me!" Aric screamed at Kent.
"Paul!" Someone cried. With a turn of his head, Aric knew it was his mother, who was crouched next to a fallen figure.
"No! Look at me when I'm about to kill you!" Kent yelled at Aric, his face inches from Aric's. At the look of his mother's crumpled figure, and another rouge slowly advancing on her, as if he knew that once she started crying there was no stopping her and that would mean he would catch her by surprise.
"You know why I'm next in line?" Aric snapped at Kent, glaring at Kent with so much venom he knew it would be impossible to think of Kent as anything than what he truly was: a monster.
Kent socffed, his hands clamped firmly around Aric's neck "Oh please, little brother, enlighten me." Kent said, deathly quiet as he stared back into Aric's eyes, so much like his own.
"Because I'm stronger." Aric answered simply, his wolf within crying out in rage to have this bastards blood spilled on his hands.
Kent didn't have a moment to react, because underneath him Aric shifted, throwing Kent a good couple of yards away from force. Aric shook out his wolfs fur, and began walking toward Kent, only one intention in mind as his father's face, his mother's crumpled one, and Katalina's probably tear-streaked one.
~* Katalina *~
Something was wrong. Katalina could feel it in her bones, like a disease. Someone was hurt, the forest knew someone was hurt.
Katalina felt despair tug at her heart. Who was it though? Oh God, please not Aric. She couldnt even bare the thought. If Aric left her...She couldn't even think the impossibility.
But something was there, nagging her. Even as Henry yelled in her face, Katalina knew that when/if she left, she'd come face-to-face with news she wasn't sure she could handle.
Then, a second later, Katalina felt as if her lungs were on fire. She groaned, throwing her head against the cement with a thwack.
Katalina didn't know what this was.
Was it the forest speaking? Aric fighting?
How the hell would she know? Would she ever know? These Rouges seemed pretty damn sure that she was never getting out of this place. And after a while, Katalina began to slightly agree with them.
