Chapter Two: (Present Day)
~*Katalina's P.O.V.*~
The cold winter breeze ruffles the curtains in Katalina's room. She mumbles in her sleep, unaware of the eyes that stalk her. Her breathing quickens as she tossed and turned in her velvet sheets. In one swift movement, she bolts up-right and takes a huge breath, gasping for air greedily.
Katalina felt the unwanted eyes. She turned to the open window, and, finding nothing, got up to slide it closed. But as she did, the soft touch of the wind stopped her. Something told her to keep the window open, and Katalina obeyed the feeling, sliding back into her bed.
Turning to her side, she glanced at the black, digital clock that was placed on her night-stand. The numbers startled Katalina. "It's six o'clock?" The words slipped past her lips like a breath. She would be waking up soon, but, turning to her other side, the night outside showed a different time.
Katalina sat up, thinking. Maybe it would ran soon; the thought made Katalina smile. Despite the name, Heaven City was usually a gloomy town, something Katalina considered a plus. Sunshine and daisy's didn't always match her changing attitude, however, a light breeze, minimum sunlight, and a soft rain always did the trick.
A small tear slid down Katalina's cheek. Max had enjoyed sitting by the fire with Katalina and telling old family stories. Of course, that was before Max had died.
Katalina only wished she could remember something, anything about it. The whole day was a complete blur. Katalina sighed, and sat up on her bed, rubbing the tears away. The crash was a month ago, plenty of time for her to come to terms with Max's death.
Katalina's emoitions clearly thought otherwise. She wasnt bothered though, sometimes it felt nice to cry, let the lump the size of a baseball in your throat drop to your stomach and scream. She never did this, but the thought was pleasing enough.
Katalina rubbed at a scar on her leg, not remembering how it had gotten there. She felt useless; had it been a deer? Another car? She couldnt remember a thing. A hot shower called Katalina into the bathroom. After a second, she remembered the open window, and shurgged on her robe to close it.
She gently eased it closed, and returned to were her shower was stil heating. Katalina took this time to comb through her tangled hair, and to evaluate herslef the way she did every morning. Pale blue eyes sood out on her face, they gave her a mysterious, yet inoccent look. Her slightly wavy blonde hair went to her belly button, something she made sure of.
Katalina disliked how pale she look; 'time to veige in the sun for a while', she thought bitterly to herself. Testing the water with her hand, Katalina got into the shower and let the water release the tension in her body. There was a knock on the bathroom door, causing Katalina to jump slightly. "Yes?" She calledm her voice barley above a whisper. Clearing her throat, she tried again, "Yes?"
"Just making sure your up." Her Mom's voice carried through the door no problem. Katalina smiled, her Mother had had a really hard time with Max's death, and Katalina admirred how good she was with keeping her emotions in check.
"Okay." Katalina replied, leaning farther into the water. After her shower, she stepped outside of her bathroom, and pulled the robe tighter to her body. A slight breeze danced across her skin. Katalina looked to the window.
It was open. Hadnt she closed that window? Katalina moved to close it, and snapped it shut. Maybe her Mother had opened it. Yeah, that was possible. Allison, Katalina's Mother, liked to open the windows and let the air move around the room, something Katalina didnt understand, but didnt question.
"You've got mail!" Katalina's laptop sang. She ignored it until she slipped into some faded blue jeans, and a turqiose t-shirt. Feeling the slight chill in her room, Katalina pulled on a white jacket and sat at her laptop.
The words were simple. "Skype Me." It was from Missy, Katalina's new friend. Missy was new this year, and was still getting used to things. Missy and her had made friends quickly.
Closing the window, Katalina pulled onto Skype, and scrolled to Missy's name. She clicked it, and in a few seconds, Missy accepted the call. "Hey, Kat." Missy greeted, her hair in a towel.
"Hey, Miss." Katalina smiled, and let her hair down, combing her hands through it. Missy's green eyes widended.
"Hey, Kat, I forgot! Damnit!" Missy stood up, and quickly pulled on a dress. Katalina averted her eyes to give Missy privacy. She looked one last time into the camera and said, "Gotta go! Explain later! Bye!"
The screen went blank, closing quickly. Katalina sighed, and moved to stare out the window while she waited for her Mother to call her to breakfast.
~*Aric*~
Aric moved into the shadows, blending in completely. "Sara!" Someone hissed. Aric's ears perked up, he was in wolf-mode. A girl--Sara--walked toward Kent, a rouge Alpha Wolf. Aric was assigned to this rouge.
It was an Alpha Wold's job to protect their pack and people. The Alpha Wolfs guarded the small town of Heaven City. Rouge wolfs didnt know the rules, and were taken as a threat, therefore each Alpha Wolf was assinged one, just incase. Aric took his job seriously, and he had a feeling that this conversaton would spark his interest.
"Hey, Kent." Sara smiled, putting her arms around her, shivering slightly. "Why'd you call me?"
Kent looked around him, as if sensing Arc's presence. Satisfied, he looked back to Sara. "The plan wont work." He said simply. Kent nodded once, and then walked away. Sara stared at him for a few moments before she gasped, and ran in a different direction.
Aric followed Kent, staying in the shadows as best as he could. Of course, Aric wasnt perfect; he had stepped on a twig, making a sound in the shadows. "Who's there?"
Aric mentally kicked himself; he was supposed to go UN-noticed, not BE noticed. Kent stiffened; did he sense Aric? Suddenly, Kent turned and stared straight into Aric's eyes.
*So am I supposed to go on? Was it OK? C'mon people, I feel unnoticed!:)
*Lovely*
