Chapter Nine:
~*Katalina*~
Katalina stared long at hard at her Mom. Then, she said, "James is here."
Her Mom froze. "What?"
"James--," Katalina tried.
"Where is he? He's here; in the house?" Allison stood up, looking around the room frantically.
"At a hotel, Mom." Katalina said, standing also. Allison sat back down, breathing heavy. Katalina sat too, staring at her Mother's reaction. "Mom..."
"You forgave him, didnt you?"
Katalina looked down at her hands. "Yes, he's my brother."
Allison nodded. "Then I do, too." She then looked at her watch. "Oh, I have to leave, Kat. I'm sorry. I wont be home for about another two, three weeks, OK?"
Katalina nodded, used to the idea already. "You should stop by James's Hotel."
"Which is?" Allison questioned, standing. Katalina mimicked her moves, already moving toward the door to grab her keys.
"Quality Inn." Katalina answered, picking up her Mother's keys and handing them to her. She would call James to warn him; to get him ready when his Mother arrived.
"Are you going to be OK? I feel like we never talk, and your always here. Alone. Don't you have any friends, Kat?"
Missy flashed through my head, but then again, Missy wouldnt have ran from Katalina if she wanted to sit with her. Katalina sighed in defeat. "No, Mom."
Allison nodded understandingly. "OK. Well, I have to leave. Goodbye, Kat." Then she was gone. Katalina sighed, rubbed her eyes, and stalked into the kitchen. Truth was, she knew as soon as her Mother left her, she would be alone with her thoughts.
And the pain of rejection.
~*Aric*~
Aric fell back against his bed, running a hand through his hair, Katalina on his mind. "Yo, Killer?" Someone called outside the door. Aric sits up, waiting for someone to walk in. Derek peeks his head inside of the room. "Hey, wassup?"
Aric quirked an brow. "What do you really want, D?"
"Why haven't I met your mate, yet?" Derek questioned, shoving his hands into his pockets. Aric stiffened, then felt guilty as hell. Why'd he say those things to her? She didnt do anything but want to know the truth.
Aric answered the best way he could. "Because..I..kind sorta..told her she was worthless."
Derek tilted his head. "You said that to your mate? I might be wrong, bro, but aren't you supposed to love your mate?"
"Yes, asshole." Aric said, rolling his eyes.
"Then, why'd-- Your scared." Derek informed Aric. Aric looked at Derek like he was crazy. "Killer, you got it bad."
"Got what bad?" Aric knew what Derek would say, but he wanted to seem innocent in this whole thing.
"You know what I mean, Killer." Derek said, walking out odf the room without another word. Tomorrow was Monday. Aric looked outside his window, the sun was setting to a horrible day. How could he apologize to Katalina?
The sad part was Aric knew just how much he had hurt her; being mates he can feel her emotions, but only the very strong ones. She can't feel his because she's human, but when/ if he claims her, then she'd feel it.
