Chapter 14

...Out of nowhere a truck swerved around the corner and into him...

"SAMEER!!"

Kavya ran over to him as the truck drove off speedily; "Sameer..." she said trying to be strong; she checked his pulse; the only name that came to her mind was Kajal; how was she going to answer to her.

He was unconscious but Kavya went blank; she just could not be a doctor right now; especially after all that had just happened between them.

"Kajal..." she whispered as tears rolled down her cheeks; she quickly took out her phone from her pocket and rang Kajal; after two rings the phone was answered.

"Hello...Kavya..." she heard Kajal say in a tired voice.

"Kajal...I'm sorry..." Kavya cried.

"What's wrong?" she asked becoming alert; "...Why are you crying...Kavya please tell me..."

"Kajal...please come back..." she replied; "...Sameer needs you...he's just had an accident..."

The line went dead and Kavya put her phone down; she looked over at Sameer not thinking of what to do. She held his hand and cried thinking that this was all her fault. After some time she thought of calling the hospital but suddenly a car drove past and she stood up hoping to get some help from the driver; she ran after the car and noticed it had stopped; the driver got out the car.

"Can you please help" she stopped her sentence midway and looked at him.

He walked towards her; "Kavya..."

"Rohan..." she whispered as more tears ran down her cheeks.

"Kavya what's the matter...why were you on the floor...who's that..." he looked over her shoulder as she panicked.

"Please help me...it's Sameer...he was hit by a truck..." Kavya cried.

"What?" Rohan shouted.

Kavya didn't say anything; Rohan ran over to him and checked him; Kavya walked over and stood towering above them. "Kavya stay with him...I'll bring the car over...we have to get him to the hospital...there might be internal bleeding..." he stood up and ran back to his car.

She knelt beside him with tears running down her cheeks; "I'm so sorry Sameer...I'm sorry this happened...please be okay..."

Rohan reversed his car and carried Sameer into it; Kavya sat with him in the back; his head was lying on her lap and she prayed silently for him while Rohan sped off to the hospital...

...Guru smiled happily after ending the final phone call then headed back to Ayesha's office to give her the good news.

"Knock, knock..." he said as he knocked on the door and opened it to see her waiting anxiously.

"Guru..." she looked at him eagerly; "...what did they say...do they want to meet me...?"

"Umm...Ayesha...they're actually busy tonight...they had already made plans to be somewhere else..." Guru teased her.

Her excitement had been washed away; "Oh..."

"It's okay..." he said sitting down opposite her; "...we can meet them another time..."

"Yeah..." she said sadly; "...I just thought that they'd want to meet me again...maybe they didn't like my behaviour towards them when we first met..."
