...There was a loud sound of everyone taking in a deep breath around the auditorium as this news was announced and instant chatter followed. Dr. Shashank was silent for a moment giving his staff some time to accept this news before he cleared his throat over the microphone for silence then carried on.

"I have had a wonderful time here at Sanjeevani...throughout the 40 years that I have worked here have been great...as an intern I learnt a lot and as a Cardiologist I had performed a huge number of surgeries...learning something new every time...and taking over as Head of the Hospital from my own mentor fifteen years ago was the best thing that happened in my life...I myself am saddened by this news as Sanjeevani is really a home for me...but there comes a time in each person's life when you need to step down...and I have made my decision..."

Aysh noticed a tear escape from the corner of her father's eye and her eyes filled up with tears. She watched as he built up his confidence and carried on once again.

"I will always be a part of Sanjeevani but I feel that it is time to pass on to the next generation...I am now going to hand over to Dr. Kabir Thappar who will hold the position of temporary Head of hospital..." Dr. Shashank said making the chatter start up once again.

Naina turned to Kabir happily who seemed to be in shock; "Congrats Kabir..." she was the first to wish him.

"Dr. Thappar will be the temporary head of hospital until the board makes the final decision..." Dr. Shashank carried on; "...thank you all so much and I look forward to meeting you all at my Farewell Party at the end of the week..."

The chatter started up once again while Shashank walked off of the stage and out of the auditorium...

Locker Room...

... "Wow...things really are heating up in this hospital..." Avi sneered as he leaned against his locker at the end of the day.

"What do you mean?" Lauren asked.

"Things are looking spicy between Dr. Guru and Dr. Ayesha...and you girls are all jealous...and now Dr. Shashank retiring...with Dr. Kabir becoming head...a lot of drama will be stirring soon..." Avi told her.

Lauren rolled her eyes; "First of all Avi...let me correct you...I'm not jealous of Dr. Ayesha..."

"But Lauren you have to agree that he is the hottest doctor in this hospital..." Ishika smiled dreamily.

Lauren nodded while Dimple smiled widely; "He really is Ishika...I wish he was single..."

"See what I mean...you girls are jealous of Dr. Ayesha..." Avi told them.

"Oh whatever Avi..." Ishika said; "...he's better than you in every way..."

Avi was about to say something when Dev and Sid walked into the locker room to calm the situation; "Hey guys...what's going on?"

"I'm just making it clear for these girls about how jealous they are of Dr. Ayesha..." Avi started up again.

"Can we seriously change the subject now..." Dimple said.

"What do you guys think of Dr. Shashank's announcement?" Dev asked.

"I see trouble..." Avi said with a sly grin.

Lauren turned towards him; "Why are you always so negative about things..."

"I'm not...I'm just stating the facts..." he replied; "...because there are many other senior doctors who deserve that post but Dr. Shashank handed over to Dr. Kabir because he is his son-in-law...so obviously there's going to be a lot of talk going on and some may even stand up to him asking him to reconsider..."
