"We're going to mount a distraction at the palace entrance." Prilynne explained, as the group hurried through the dark halls. "Kathryn likes to lead her troops into battle, but from a secure distance. The militia will siege us at the front door, but the Prime will be monitoring the battle from her command center; a safe area just behind the throne room. She thinks we won't know she'll be there, passing us off as random rebels, but we have assurance that she will. While the assault is happening, a small strike team will infiltrate her secret hideout and take her unsuspecting ass out. And I'll be on it." She added, squinting her eyes in anticipation.

"How do you know the army will attack from the front?" Mika inquired.

"Because of security protocols." Another attendant answered instead. The soldier gave her a quick look, and recognized the lady from the archive room. She was holding a large, steel box in her hands, with several little satellite dishes sticking out of it. "This is a signal jammer; it cuts off all communications exiting the palace. If the army doesn't receive transmissions from this place, they are to rendezvous here and provide any assistance needed to the Nexis Prime."

"Wouldn't they just use the back door?" Mika asked, worried. "It'd be a more sensible solution if their leader was threatened by infiltrators."

"You're right about that, but the main bulk of their forces barges in through the front first." Prilynne replied. "Since we don't have the manpower- Well, womanpower, rather... to hold more than one entrance, we have to make sure our strike team is quick. We take Kathryn out, and the army will be forced to listen to the new leader thanks to our strict laws. We'll even win the people over thanks to that, but we'll be sure to give them new freedom as soon as possible. We will win."

"And where do you want me in all this?" The Tetran wondered.

"Anywhere you can help us the best." The ginger said. "However, I'd like you to consider the safety of that child before anything else."

Mika looked at her daughter. She was still sleeping, blissfully unaware of what was going on around her. She looked so cute...

Just a bit more, sweetie. This'll all be over, and we can live peacefully together with your dad. Just a bit more...

"We're about to reach the main hall." An attendant said. "It'll be bright again, thank the gods..."

"I'll join you on the defense until the strike team jumps into action." The dark-haired woman declared, as the group emerged from the darkness, almost reaching the chokepoint where the barricades were already mounted and reinforcements were waiting for them. "I wanna get back at Kathryn too. This is personal now."

"As you wish. Thank you so much, Mika." Prilynne said, truly honest.

"Thank you, Prily." Mikaro smiled, even though she couldn't be seen under her helmet's visor. Her interlocutor smiled back anyways, and then turned to the exterior of the palace. "Positions, everyone!" She ordered her allies, who moved ammo crates around and took cover behind barriers.

Starships and carriers were descending on the grounds in front of the building. As soon as they touched down, Nexian troops started pouring from them, advancing on their target in waves. With a commanding shout from the aspiring young leader ('For Nexia!'), a heavy bulletstorm began on those grounds. The army pushed on the defenders, unleashing everything they had, supported by their great numbers. But the rebels were well prepared and well trained. A few of them were felled by the dense fire, but even with their reduced numbers, Prilynne's group held the line magnificently. They moved in perfect coordination behind the barricades, exchanging weapons when necessary, firing with outstanding accuracy. They were holding on purely thanks to their will and conviction for a better future.
