*JENNA'S P.O.V*
"Sure George.." I sighed, resting my head on the back of the passenger seat of his car.
He was rambling on about Emily and Ben and how things would 'get better' with the use of 'easier' thrown in there way too much.
To be honest, it was my fault he was so concerned. If I didn't start crying like an idiot yesterday at school, the subject wouldn't have bothered him this much.
"No but Jen I'm serious.." He said again, looking at me before quickly turning his attention back to the road.
"Let's just enjoy the day, yeah?" I smiled, placing my hand over his which was on the gear box.
He nodded, I watched as his eyes moved down to our hands briefly before a smile was painted onto his face.
"Alright.. You're gonna love it!" He grinned, turning the steering wheel.
I watched as he pulled into the town Zoo, this had been my favourite place to go when I was a child, mainly my Dad would bring me..
That slight ping of sorrow and hate for that man came back in a rush, just looking at the entrance.
"You like this place, right?" George smiled, taking off his seatbelt before looking up to my face.
I snapped into a smile and nodded, "Yeah.. My Erm.. My Dad brought me here when I was little"
His eyebrow rose, "He's in Jail.. Right?"
Sighing heavily, I nodded and got out the car to which he soon did the same.
He smiled and came round to me, taking my hand in his before giving it a small squeeze, "I'm sorry.."
That was always the thing they'd say, 'I'm sorry'. For what? My Dad being a drug taking, violent offender? Hm.
"Shut up.. Let's go in" I grinned, pulling his hand before walking into the Zoo entrance, grabbing a map; "Where first?"
He scoffed slightly, as if it was the most obvious answer in the world, "The monkey enclosure, duh! They're the best things in this whole place!" He grinned.
I laughed and looked up at him, admiring the rare childish side that only seemed to come out around me. Before I even had chance to reply, he'd taken hold of my hand and was already pulling me in the direction of the enclosure.
I laughed and watched the monkeys swing from tree to tree, some enjoying bits of dried fruit on the floor. They were cute, I gotta admit. But looking up to George, was such a cuter sight.. Strange right? His bad boy edge was no longer recognizable.. And all thanks to a few monkeys.
"I want one." He mumbled, watching a smaller monkey cling onto it's mother's back.
I smiled and rolled my eyes, "I'll get you one for your birthday.."
His attention turned fully to me then, his eyes wide "Really?!"
I scoffed and watched him, laughing quietly, "Yeah George, I'll just pop to the Monkey Pet Shop down the road.."
He rolled his eyes and playfully hit my arm before everything stood still. All that could be heard was a gunshot. A loud, close gunshot.
That's when I saw one of the Monkeys fall down with a whimper, it had been so close to us.
I widened my eyes at the realisation, looking up to George to see he had come to the same understanding. That shot wasn't meant for the animal.
He wrapped his arm round me, bowing my head down as more gunshots could be heard as we ran to the side.
"George!!" I screamed, holding him so tight he could burst. He squoze me back, running down the edge of the enclosures.
Suddenly, George pushed me into one of the buildings, he stayed at the door and looked around before pulling out a small black gun from his pocket, firing it at a certain target before turning his aim to another spot.
There was more than one person?
"Close the door, George!!" I yelled, watching him.
He quickly looked round to me before stepping back a bit and slammed the door shut.
I sighed heavily and looked around the room we was in, it seemed to be a staff only room, full of various animal food and supplies.
Lucky, there was nobody in here.
George put the gun back into his pocket and looked at me before rubbing his hands over his face.
"Who was it George?" I asked, trying to keep my calm for his sake.
"Who do you think?!" He snapped, letting his hands fall to his sides.
I drew back then, nodding and bowed my head. It's best to just keep quiet.. I could see that the situation was stressing him and I really didn't blame him.
I heard him sigh before an arm fell round me, looking up at him, he looked at me. "I'm sorry.. For everything really.."
"Don't say that, George." I shook my head, "None of what they do is your fault"
"It is. Its my fault they are on my case and it's my fault that you've been dragged into it.." He frowned and sniffed.
I sighed, knowing it was the truth in all honesty. Listening to the sounds outside, I bit my lip.
"I think they've gon-"
And that's when the door flew open...
