*JENNA'S P.O.V*
The look on George's face was one that could've easily broke my heart right there and then. In fact, I'm almost certain that it did. His face fell and changed completely, from his previous tough guy front who stood for no crap, to how he looked right now. A lost, confused and scared boy. And I couldn't help but feel guilty.
Even though this was Ben's doing, I still felt a pang of guilt. Like it was my fault George was being put in this situation. And in a way, it was. I kind of understood why he tended to 'fuck and leave' girls now, he never got attached so people like Ben wouldn't give him a weakness. But for some reason, George had fell for me in a way that excelled over staying the night, I don't know why. I'm nothing special.
"Y-You cant do that!" George stuttered, clenching his fists at either side of him as he locked eyes with Ben. "Don't you dare bring my family into this as well as Jenna!"
Ben laughed, an awful choky laugh that could only have been caused by cigarette smoke. "Oh, George... But we have!"
I could see George's jaw clench as his patience grew smaller and smaller. "Well fucking let them go you lowlife scum! You have the nerve to imprison two middle aged people as well as a 13 year old! You're sick!"
Ben smirked as Matt chuckled quietly to himself, I was slowly feeling even more trapped in this tiny room, if that was possible.
"We don't hear a choice." Ben laughed, completely ignoring George's words. This irritated him even more.
"That's because im not choosing!" George wrapped his arm back round my waist, pulling me into his side tight. "You're going to let my family go, im going to get Jenna home save and you're going to stop these pathetic games!"
I could sense that George's fuse was going to blow any second now. I looked on at Ben and Matt, their smirking faces burning up anger inside me too.
As George's fist rose I pulled it back down quickly, taking matters into my own hands for once and moved forward. "Let his family go."
*GEORGE'S P.O.V*
What did she think she was doing?! This situation was fucked up already, it doesn't need Jenna getting involved, in the nicest way possible. This is something I need to handle and I need to sort out.
"Jenna what are you-" I mumbled, holding her arm; only to be shaken off and ignored. Much too Ben's amusment before he turned his attention back to Jen.
"Well well well, look who's found her voice." He sneered to her, she didn't even seem to flinch by his attention.
"Let his family go, they haven't done anything wrong and neither has George!" She said, even through her greatest attempts to remain strong, I could still hear the tone of worry in her voice as she spoke.
"You don't know what little old George there has done over the years, do you? So who are you to talk?" His eyes narrowed slightly, glancing up at me before back down to her almost immediatly.
"And she doesn't need to either, but niether Jenna or my family have anything to do with this!" I came out next to Jenna, standing side by side again.
She looked up at me and smiled slightly before looking down at her feet.
Ben looked up at me. This has been going on for too long. I grabbed Jenna's hand tight and pushed between them both, surprisingly they moved to the side and let us through. I pulled Jenna infront of me as I walked through them.
I kept Jenna close as we exited the room, still in slight shock over the ease of that action. It worried me at the same time.
Keeping my grip tight on her hand, we walked into the courtyard of the zoo, the big water fountain still flowing beautifully as if nothing had happened. The only difference between now and before was that everyone had fled. Even the zoo keepers and workers.
Hearing the muffled sound of police sirens, I looked over to the tall enterance gate with a sigh of relief. Half a dozen police men were waiting outside cars. I looked down to see the grin on Jenna's face.
"Hold up your hands now!" One of the men said through a megaphone. We did as asked and rose our hands slowly, walking over. "Are you two alright? We had reports of a hostage situation." He said, still through the megaphone.
I nodded, so did Jenna. "The guys are still in there.." I pointed behind me to the little storage room we were in, turning my eyes back to the men. "There was others shooting as well."
"But we didn't see them.." Jenna piped up, sighing with relief.
I smiled. She smiled back. And in that moment everything suddenly seemed alright again. No worries and no fears. Just Jenna smiling at me.
That was until a gunshot echoed around the Zoo, the police men hurrying around furiously with outstretched weapons as they searched for the source merely a second after the shot was heard.
I flipped my head round behind me, catching eye of Ben through the window of the gift shop, the pistol smoke wafting out from the barrel. He smirked, nodding at me before diserpearing back into the shop.
I raised my eyebrow in confusion. Before my whole world came crashing down.
Jenna fell to her knees next to me, I was quick to follow, my eyes wide as I held her arms, her head propped up on my knee. I stared at her face, her eyes blinking slowly as she looked up at me with tearful eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips.
I shook my head quickly, mumbling curses as I let rare tears escape down my waterline. A number of officers and paramedics surrounded us in less than a minute but I refused to move away. She was still alive. She was still alive.
But him. That thing. That prick. That dickhead. That pathetic lowlife son of a bitch had shot her. He'd shot the only thing in the world that I'd vowed to protect without fail.
And he'd pay for it.
If it's the last thing I do.
