I flutter my eyes open being immediately blinded by the brightness of the room. Once my eyes focus from the blur I spotted movement in the distance. Looking around I realize I'm not in my room. I'm at Zipporah's. I'm always that person who's confused when I wake up. I rub my eyes sitting up trying to fully awake. That's when I see Zipporah in the kitchen spinning around as she sang along to the music playing.

I knew that song right off the bat. Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

"It's a new dawn," she sings loud into a whisk while dramatically kicking her leg into the air. It was an impressive high kick. "It's a new day," she sings next raising her free arm into the air. "It's a new life for me!" She sings holding the last note dipping lower the longer she drags it on. I look at her in amusement beginning to clap making her open her eyes with a gasp.

She clutches her chest saying, "I forgot you were here."

"I see that," I say laughing as I fully sit up putting my feet wearing just socks onto the floor. "What time is it?" I ask.

"After noon," she says right as I reach for my Apple Watch to see it's 12:43.

"Damn. You coulda woke me up earlier if you needed to."

"Why? We didn't go to sleep until after 5a.m."

"I don't know. Maybe you had something to do.. Somewhere to go or maybe people to see."

"I mean, I do, but I have the rest of the day to do it," she says shrugging with her back turned to me as she stood in front of the stove. She wore a matching grey two piece set consisting of shorts and a matching crop top. "You were sleeping like a baby, so I left you alone. My couch wasn't too bad, right?" She asks looking over her shoulder at me with a grin.

I crack my back for dramatics then stand up saying, "Sure. I'll just be feeling it in my back all week long. I'll blame any early on set back pains on you." She chuckles then I say, "What did you have planned today anyway?"

She sits at her dining room table blowing on the smoking mug she holds in her two hands. "I completely forgot next weekend was Halloween. It slipped my mind with all the Homecoming festivities. I need an outfit for some party my girls wanna go to."
