A few drinks and a few more conversations with David later, Dan pulls me out the door of the bar, leaving Phil and Maiara behind.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Dan asks as soon as we're outside.
"What do you mean?! I was just trying to be nice, but apparently I can't do that because you're so goddamn jealous when I talk to any other guy!" I yell.
"Him saying he was married, that was a load of bullshit. He was hitting on you."
"I don't fucking think so-"
"-And you, saying we were married?! Are you crazy?!"
"I figured you wouldn't have minded!"
He just takes a deep breath and puts his face in his hands. "Rachel, I'm sorry-"
"-No. Don't talk to me." I get out my phone and dial a friend's number.
Her name's Emma. She's a British model, but I met her when she was in LA in a coffee shop, and we've been friends ever since.
"Hello?" She answers.
"Hey, Emma, can you do me a favor?" I ask as I start to make my way down the sidewalk.
"After giving me a ride home when I got a flat tire, I owe you one. What do you need?"
"If you're not busy, I need you to pick me up at a bar."
"A bar, huh? Damn...I really need a drink. If I picked you up...would you want to go to another one?"
"Um, actually-" I stop myself and turn around, seeing Dan staring at me from afar. "...Yeah, that sounds good."
"Perfect. Where are you at?"
"Seven Grand. It's on 7th street."
"I think I know it. I'm actually in the car right now, I was heading home but I'll turn and head in your direction. I'll be there in five."
"Thank you so much, Emma."
"No problem darling. See you."
I hang up and clear my throat, turning around and walking back towards Dan.
He looks at me with pleading eyes but I shake my head, and walk back into the bar.
I make my way towards Maiara and Phil. "Hey," I say to either of them.
Phil looks at me, "What's going on, are you and Dan okay?"
"Yeah, whatever," I shake my head, "I'm going to go out with one of my friends, she's picking me up and I'll be home later."
"What? You're leaving?" Maiara frowns.
"Yes. I'm sorry. I'll talk to you guys later on." I smile sadly and walk back outside and see Dan standing in the same spot he was before.
I stand next to him and we don't say anything until Emma pulls up in her shiny black Corvette.
"Where are you going?" Dan finally speaks up.
"None of your business," I say as I open the door.
"Rachel, I said I'm sorry, I don't want to worry about you so please just let me-"
"-Fuck off!" I shout as I slam the door. Emma speeds off and I sigh. "Thank you."
"Who was that?" She asks, gripping the steering wheel. "He was kind of hot."
"Just some guy clinging onto me at the bar." I lie.
"Damn. Let's go get your mind off of it."
"I'm already a little tipsy," I laugh, "My mind is as far away from it as possible." I lie again.

"Maybe you should stop," Emma puts her hand on my shoulder, "You've had 4 shots, plus what you had at Seven Grand.
I shake my head and wave her off, "No, I'm fine." I drink the clear liquid in the shot glass and cough.
"Damn, girl, you can down a drink better than any other girl I've seen," I hear some guy's voice.
He comes into my view and shoves Emma out of the way, taking her seat.
"Hey, pardon me, asshole," She spits.
He shoves his hand in her face, "Two minutes is all I'm asking for."
Emma looks at me, and I nod.
She sighs and nods back, walking off.
"I'm Seth," The guy says, "And you are?"
"Rachel," I smile, "Nice to meet you."
"Can I just say you're looking absolutely stunning tonight?"
I feel myself blush, "Thank you. You don't look too bad, either."
He turns his attention to the bartender, "Another round for the pretty lady, please."
I place my hand on my heart, "How nice of you."
"It's no problem. So, what brings you here?"
I shrug, "I'm just with my friend, trying to get my mind off of things."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry I kind of pushed her out of the way, I just really wanted to talk to you."
"Oh, it's fine," I shake my head, "I'm...kind of glad you did."
He just looks into my eyes for a few moments and takes a deep breath, "Do you wanna come back to my place for a while?"
I lean back, "Oh, um...I really shouldn't. I mean- my friends from out of town are visiting and I kind of need to get back to them before long-"
"-No, it's okay, I wasn't really expecting a yes anyways." He frowns and looks down.
I check my phone, it's only a little past midnight. "On second thought...I guess I can come over for a bit."
He looks back up at me, "Are you sure? You don't have to if you-"
"-No, no, it's okay. Let me just find my friend and I'll tell her." I stand up after taking the shot in front of me and look around for Emma.
I see her in the corner talking to a few others girls. I make my way towards her, and she sees me and smiles, "Well, hello there, beauty."
"Hey," the other girls look at me and I feel myself get hot, "Um, I'm going to head out, so I'll see you another time."
"Are you getting an uber?"
"Yeah. Well, kind of. This guy is going to take me home," I lie to save myself from getting a lecture about going to a stranger's house.
She nods, "Okay, Rachel. Please, be careful."
"I will. Thanks again for picking me up." I walk off and see Seth standing at the door.
"Are you ready to go?" He asks with a smile.
I nod, "Yep."
