"I don't know what to do," I tell Maiara, nervously pacing around the kitchen of our two month old apartment.

"Tell him," She says calmly, looking down at her nails.

"What? No! Absolutely not!"

"Why not?"

"Because," I snap my fingers at her and she looks up at me, "You act like this isn't a big deal."

"Of course it's a big deal, I just don't think you have anything to worry about. Just tell him."

"Right, like you would tell Phil right away if this happened to you?"

She nods, "He's the first person I would tell."

"I don't know, Phil's different than Dan, I don't think they'd have the same reaction..." I shake my head, "I can't. I can't tell him. He'd be so mad at me."

"Well you can't do this secretly!" She gets up from her seat, letting out a small laugh, "Look, he's not going to be mad. He's going to be so happy. If you won't tell him, I will."

"No! That'd be even worse!"

She shrugs, "I'm giving you a week. If you don't tell him what's going on, I will."

I look down, walking back into my bedroom.

I glance at my phone at least three times, and I hesitantly dial Dan's number.

He answers after the third ring, "Hello, beautiful."

"Um, hey." I respond.

"Are you alright?"

I nod, then remember he can't see me, "Oh, yeah, I'm- I'm fine. I was just wondering if...I could come over for a bit."

"You know you don't have to ask, right?"

I play with the hem of my shirt and nod again, "Yeah."

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. I'll be over in about half an hour."

"...Rachel, I know that there's something wrong, and you're going to tell me as soon as you get here, do you understand?"

I take a moment before answering, "Yes."

"Good. See you soon."

"Bye." I quickly hang up and gather my thoughts and shove my phone in my pocket.

As soon as I exit my bedroom, Maiara is standing next to the door and smiling, "You're going to tell him?"

I nod, "Yeah."

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"No, I just want to tell him on my own. As horrible as this may sound, I hope Phil's not there."

She shakes her head, "He's not, he messaged me earlier saying he was out with a few friends."

"Okay, good. I'm gonna go so I can get back."
