Elliot

I don't like hospitals even if it was just to visit. I rolled my suit case behind me trying to catching a cab from the air port. The drive to the hospital from the air port was almost a thirty minute ride.

"Miss" the cab driver called "Miss we are here" I sat up wiping the slob off my chin. I looked out the cab window and there it was,"Thanks." I handed him a reasonable amount of money and a small tip. He got out handing me my bag,"Have a good day miss."

I smiled walking up the pavement leading to the hospitals double sliding doors. The smell of lemon hit my nose as I walked further into the building. The women at the front desk smiled at me,"Hi, how might I help you today?" She asked.

"Elijah Reed, I'm here for a visit," I told her while looking around at the shiny leather furniture and beautiful pantings. "You guys are pretty fancy for a hospital," she smiled at my comment. "We at Saint Barbara Hospital believe the patient is most comfortable when the environment is like home," I nodded slowly the only people who live like this are people like my father.

"Mr. Reed is currently on our private floor may I ask for your license," I rolled my eyes taking out my wallet handing it to her. She checked it then handed it back to me,"Okay he's on the fifth floor in room 203." I thanked her walking down the hall to the elevators. All the nurses seemed to wear white coats and the patient silk gowns.

"You can't just go to a normal hospital can you father," I pressed the button until the elevator finally came. As the door were about to close a hand held them open. "What th-" I was taken back by the handsome man joining me in the elevator. "Going up," he smiled. I stared at him he looked incredibly young to be a doctor.

"I know this might be rude of me but there's no way in hell your a doctor," I said gawking at him. He chuckled,"It's fine I get that a lot I'm actually twenty four so I'm not that young." This guy had some serious genes in him. I could only imagine how his father must look.

The elevator doors opened,"Well this is my stop." I walked out the elevator with my suit case behind me. I followed her directions and there it was room 203 as promised. I opened the door,"Anyone alive?" My father sat in the hospital bed with a not so amused look on his face,"Very funny Elliot."

I smiled closing the door behind me,"Someones in a good mood." He rolled his eyes,"I wasn't expecting you, but I'm happy your here" his smile reaching his eyes. I took a seat on the black leather sofa by the bed,"You look like shit and your rooms nice." I looked around the place, it looked more like a five star suite then hospital room.

"Ladies and gentlemen the daughter I love you so very much," he tried to laugh nearly coughing out his lungs. I handed him the glass of water sitting on the bedside table,"Take it easy old man." He took a few sips handing it back to me,"Thank you." He didn't look like his normal self his skin pale, dark bags hung underneath his light brown eyes, his thick black curls sprinkled with spots of grey,"I'd say trouble with the wife but it looked like the whole family whopped your ass."

He shook his head,"You've never talked to me this much before I don't know whether I should cry or cry." It's nice to see he's developed a sense of humor. I think everyone does when they've reached forty. I laughed,"Not that I care or anything but what's got you down?" He smiled looking over at me,"Stress the doctors say I need a break and a therapist."

"How's your mother?" I knew this was coming. "Why don't you marry her and find out," I told him.

"I would if she wasn't so damn stubborn and unforgiving," he chuckled. Those two would never stop loving each other. My mother and father were made for each other. Life just got in between them and so did their bad choices.

"Elliot I love you and your mothe-" before he could finish his sentence the door flew open. A small little toddler ran into the room screaming,"Da Da Da Da." She stood to the edge of the bed reaching her arms out for him,"It's daddy's little princess." I rolled my eyes I must be his little troll.

The little girl had pink bows in her jet black curly hair that was in two pigtails. She had big brown eyes and pouty pink lips. Her little dress hung over her chubby little legs she was disgustingly adorable.

Kelsey appeared in the doorway,"Eliza, I told you to wait for mommy." Her eyes widened when she saw me,"Elliot? Wow." She gathered the little girl in her arms,"Voni hadn't told me when you would be arriving or that you would even come."

I stood up grabbing my back pack,"I was just leaving." My father grabbed my arm,"Please Elliot stay a little longer."

"Elijah you need rest she should go," she said to him. He looked at her as if he would kill if she spoke another word.

I glared at her then looked at him he stared at me with pleading eyes,"I think you have all the family you need here Elijah." I snatched my arm out of his grip walking out of the room. I ignored the smug little grin on Kelsey's face. This is what he chose over my mother and I and it's what he deserves.
