Chapter 16

It has been two weeks since magkita kami ng Papa ko. I have been staying in a hotel since then. I really can't bare the thought of seeing my father or being with him after all that he's done to me and my mother. He sold me.

And no matter how much I hate my mother. I never knew he was capable of negligence which led to her death. He never plotted for a plane crash. But I knew he wanted to extract revenge.

I was staring at some photographs I was editing in my MacBook.  It was a picture of a couple walking in the park across the hotel. The smile of the girl was genuine while the guy holds her hand. 

I wouldn't lie that I miss Luke. Everyday, I would wonder how he is and what he's doing. I never got his phone number or e-mail. I never needed them since he was always so near. 

My phone rang, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Hello, Celine?"

"I have something to tell you."

She sounded dead serious. "What is it?"

I can hear her voice quivering from the other line. "I'm... p-pregnant."

"What? That's great!" I bursted. "Celine! This is great news." I closed my MacBook and grabbed my handbag on the couch near my bed. "I'm heading there!"

"No... not now...," she whispered.

"What's going on?"

"Well, Maxon doesn't know yet." 

"I'm sure he'll be thrilled-"

"No, he won't be," she faintly said. "I'm sure of it. He'll hate me..."

"What? I'm sure Mason will understand."

"I just.. OKay, fine. Let's talk. Can you come to my place?"

I grabbed my iPad to immediately book for a cab. "Yes! I'll be there. Wait for me."

Halos isang oras na ako sa taxi. Sobrang traffic kasi ng EDSA. Inabot pa ng rush hour kasi hapon na ring tumawag si Celine. 

"Miss, may banggaan daw po pala."

"Kaya naman pala." Lakarin ko na lang kaya? Baka mas mabilis pa. Tutal, malapit na naman yung kantong kikiluan papuntang Makati. "Manong, you can drop me off na lang diyan sa side. I'll just walk from here. Mukhang matatagalan pa, eh. Medyo nagmamadali talaga ako."

Anyway, walkable na naman 'yung condo ni Celine from here. I paid the driver then, got out of the cab. Nakakarindi ang mga busina ng sasakyan. Halos lahat yata nagmamadali na. Tumawid ako at naglakad papunta sa kanto kung saan kikilo dapat si Kuya papuntang Makati. Dusit Thani area naman kaya siguro safe na siya.

I was walking, consumed by my thoughts. Bakit kaya natatakot siyang sabihin si Maxon? Hindi ba siya pananagutan ng lalaking 'yon? Walanghiya talaga ang lahat ng mga lalaki sa mundo. Nasipa ko 'yong batong pakalat kalat sa daan ko. 

"Gago silang lahat!" bulong ko.

All of a sudden, a pair of strong arms grabbed me from the side walk and pulled me to a dark alleyway in between two tall buildings. Wala masyadong taong dumadaan sa side na 'to dahil madilim. Bakit kasi naglakad pa ako?

Panic started to rise when I felt his hands cover my mouth so I couldn't scream. Just then, my eyes met his. And my heart started beating wildly.
