we built an empire
under my bedsheets.
we'd make plans about
the future,
and just smile at each other.
we'd whisper secrets
and tell each other
promises
we would break.

we built an empire
with obstacles
and fake flowers.
you'd wear a fake golden crown,
and i'd be the damsel in distress,
always by your side.
we made beautiful
memories,
we would regret.

we built an empire,
that was abandoned,
because we forgot about it
in the midst of all the fighting
and foolish vanity.
now we look back at it,
and we see is ashes
and terribly beautiful
ruins.
