and you built a cage,

and handed me the keys,

you swam oceans

while i loathed the sea.

and when i built a wall

you grabbed a sledge hammer

and smashed it until

i let you love me.

and i was colour blind,

but you helped me

memorise your tan skin

and brown eyes.

and i was deaf

but the way you called me,

"baby"

will always be heard.

and i was paralysed

but you pulled me back on to my feet

and taught me how to dance

to the rhythm of your heartbeat.

you mended a fragile heart;

you captured an essence;

you captivated me.
