Chapter 16- The Fight

Phoenix's POV

I wake up the next morning to Amethyst sneaking into my bed. I look up at her and ask "Amethyst what are you doing?" And she shushes me. "Papa and Daddy are fighting. Listen" She says and we listen closely.

She's right. I can hear them start to get louder. "WHAT IS IT MAGNUS?! DO YOU THINK I WANT TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME?!" Daddy yells and I look at Amethyst who holds on to my hand. We listen as Papa responds

"YOU ALWAYS WORK ALEC!! ALWAYS!!! TAKE A DAMN WEEK OFF TO SPEND WITH US. YOU ARE ALWAYS WORKING!!! THERE ARE OTHER SHADOWHUNTERS TO TAKE YOUR SPOT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS!! A DAY OR SO IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO WATCH OUR FAMILY EXPAND AND GROW UP!!!" He shouts back and we hear something break.

We rush into the hall where the others are standing outside their doors listening. We move closer to their door and stand there listening.

"DO YOU THINK I ACTUALLY WANT TO MISS THIS?! I JUST WANT TO KEEP YOU ALL SAFE!!! DAMN IT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?! I CAN'T LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU GUYS!! IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOU IT'S MY FAULT!!! GOD MAGNUS JUST TRY TO UNDERSTAND THIS IS HARD FOR ME TO!" Daddy shouts back and something else breaks.

We hear stuff being pushed around and listen softly pressing our ears to the wall. "TRY TO UNDERSTAND?! I UNDERSTAND JUST FINE ALEXANDER!! AFTER EVERYTHING YOU THINK I DON'T?! WELL I DO DAMN IT!!! THIS IS NOT MY FAULT AND THIS IS NOT JUST YOUR FAMILY IT'S OURS.

WE PROTECT EACH OTHER!! GOD DAMN IT ALEC, WHAT PART OF WE ARE A TEAM DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!?!? YOU CAN'T KEEP THIS UP FOREVER. THEY NEED YOU!! I NEED YOU FOR FUCKS SAKE ALEC!!!" Papa screams back at him suddenly with full force in his words.

We hear something else break and back up as we hear footsteps walk to the door. We rush into the closest room which is Madzies and hide as the door opens.

We watch daddy step out. "I'm leaving. I'll stay at the institute as we finish this mission. I'll be back in a few days" He says and as he walks out he grabs his bag and storms off. He slams the front door behind him and leaves for the institute like he said. We wait a few minutes to make sure and the head to their room to see what happened. Papa is sitting on the bed looking down at his hands.

I walk over as Madzie magics away or repairs the broken things. I look at his hands which are bleeding and shaking and heal them so he won't be in any pain. "Papa? Are you okay?" I ask as he looks at me.

He smiles sadly at me and says "I'll be okay. Don't worry it was just a small disagreement okay? We didn't mean to scare you guys. Are you okay sweetie?" He asks and I nod slowly. "Papa what happened in here?" Asks Max who gets smacked by Madzie and is shushed by Rafael.

"No it's alright. Daddy and I just had a small disagreement. Soon It'll be okay kids. I promise. He'll be back soon. He loves us okay? He is just under a lot of stress to keep us safe. Now c'mon my little bugs we'll have to feed you to become nice and strong so you can be just like Daddy" He says and I shake my head

"I don't want to just be like daddy. I also want to be just like you to papa" I say slowly and he smiles "That's sweet baby. Thank you. Now let's get some food in you guys" He says picking me up and hugging me. I hug back and kiss his cheek. He smiles at the rest of my siblings and kisses all their heads.

"I love you guys. Never forget that" He says and walks out with me in his arms. The rest of them follow and we sit at the table. Papa makes us cereal with fruits and let's us eat but I don't and Neither does Amethyst. Madzie Max and Rafael decide to stop eating to as Papa sits down with no food.

"Aren't you going to eat with us papa?" I ask and he shakes his head. "I'm not hungry sweetie. Eat, I'll be fine don't worry" He says and smiles at us slowly "Go on or it'll get soggy" He says and we slowly start to each our still crunchy cereal and fruits.

After we finish he let's us go outside to the balcony which is also a playground. He puts his wards up so nothing happens if he isn't looking. He sits down and starts reading a book so I sit next to him. He smiles at me.

His smile is sad. He is sad. And he misses daddy. I touch his hand and use my powers to show him daddy's sad to. I can see him if I want and how he feels. He sees it to and I let go so he can read his book.

I start to get up and walk towards Amethyst but suddenly start to get a vision and fall face first. "Nix! Are you okay? What's wrong?" Calls Papa as the vision starts

A man in black starts to walk towards the apartment and stares up at our house. As if he's waiting for something. Or someone. He stares with his red eyes and walks towards our house slowly. He laughs quietly and hands something to the man in front causing him to sleep. He walks up the stairs and towards our door. And suddenly everything goes dark.

I look up as Papa helps me stand. "We have to go. Call daddy. We gotta go. MADZIE RAFAEL MAX!! Come here Amee! Papa call daddy now!" I say slowly grabbing on to both him and Amethyst and he slowly takes his phone as the others join us and they stand behind us as Papa calls daddy.

I hear him answer but before I can answer someone burst in through the door causing Amee to scream. She hides behind papa and papa drops his phone. He goes to make a shield but is blasted off his feet and thrown against the walls of our playground.

We scream as he goes limp. "PAPA!!!" We scream as the man comes closer. Rafael takes out his blades and stands in front of us ready to protect us and fight if he has to. Amethyst starts to fall as she starts to have a vision and Madzie picks her up.

"Who are you?!"asks Rafael as the man steps closer. Rafael pushes us back and stands far as possible to stop him if needed. The man stops walking and stands still. Then he speaks. "I have no reason to say my name son but he does. Don't you Phoenix?

You know who I am. You saw me coming just now, your sister saw me just now I'm sure. Tell them sweet little Amethyst" He says and bullies his way past our comfort zone.

I look over at papa as he still hasn't woken up yet. Amethyst shakes from besides me. "Get away from them" Says Rafael as Madzie and Max pull us back. The man laughs loudly.

"Don't make this hard on us please. My people only want your dear papa and sweet little sister and brother. Don't fight us. Give me them or else" He says and Rafael gives him a look as if he is warning him to stsy away. He point's his blade at the man who sighs and snaps his fingers.

Suddenly Rafael screams as he's thrown against the wall as well but besides the doors. I scream as the man steps towards us. "LEAVE US ALONE. WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH THEM!? HEY HAVE NOTHING FOR YOU!" Screams Madzie as She flies foward to grab me.

She pulls me back but nearly falls with the weight of Amethyst on her. She regains balance and continues to pull back as she hits the bricks on the wall. She brushes off the mans threat as if our lives weren't in danger in enough. Suddenly she drops to the ground as the man snaps his fingers and laughs. Max steps up but is suddebly frozen in his spot by the mans magic.

"Time to go bye bye" He says snd picks us up off of the floor. We fight him off but he holds on to us as he conjures up a portal he throws his hands out and papas body is pushed back towards the portal. We struggle and scream but nothing happens and he walks through as if he was king and Suddenly everything goes black.
