Chapter 13- Work Calls

Magnus's POV

I lay in bed listening to Alec get ready for work again. It's been three months since the incidents with Rafael and Max and he's been going to work non stop since then. I turn over as he walks in. He walk's over to the bed and sits next to me.

"Magnus.. I feel like somethings wrong. Talk to me" Alec says rubbing my back. I sigh content at his touch and turn over to face him. "I just miss you Alec. You've been working non stop for three months. And yes I know your captain and your team and fellow shadowhunters need you. I understand.

But since Max and Rafaels Incidents you haven't been like your self" I say and he sighs. He starts to speak but his phone rings. "See what I mean? Work calls" I say and he answers the phone.

"Yes Jace- Yes- yes- absolutely not. No. No Jace absolutely not. She stays home. Keep her locked there if you have to- yes I know she's capable but she's also pregnant- Clary-  GOD DAMNIT FRAY I'LL CALL YOU BACK" He says and hangs up. He throws his phone aside and lays down next to me.

"I'm sorry Magnus. I didn't mean to make you feel lonely or bad. But I take work seriously and lately there's a lot of demon activity and some of it has to do with mundane deaths. We almost have it done.

It'll be finished soon. I promise. Please don't be upset with me. What can I do to make it up to you?" He asks and I bury my face into a pillow.

"You can start by coming home on time for dinner and taking care of the kids. I'm exhausted Alec" I tell him and he chuckles. He kisses my neck and turns me around

"Don't hide how you feel from me Magnus. I'll love you no matter what. Just tell me the truth. Don't worry I promise to be home in time tonight" He says and kisses me on the lips.

"Alright fine. Go do your thing shadow hunter. I'll be here waiting" I say and he picks up his phone. With one last look at me he smiles and walks out.

I look around and see the clock says 6 am. The kids wake me up at around 9 so I head on back to sleep.

~Time skip~

I wake up to see I over slept and it's almost 4 in the afternoon. I rush around getting ready and suddenly realize there's no noise. I walk into the living room where I see all the kids and-

"Alec?" I say seeing him sitting with Madzie on his lap reading a book. He looks up and smiles at me. "Babe, your awake. See I told you I'd be home in time for dinner. Come let's go in the kitchen" He says and drags me into the kitchen.

He pushes me against the wall and kisses me, I kiss back and wrap my arms around him. We break apart after a while and he smiles at me. "I hope that made up for our lousy morning" Alec says and I laugh. "I guess it did. It was quite enjoyable I might add" I say and go to sit at the table when something is heard crashing.

"You guy's are completely screwed this time. I'm so out of here. Bye guys, see you in the after life" Max's voice says. I hear him run away towards his room and start to walk into the living room but Alec stops me and puts a finger on his lips.

We listen as Amee, Nix, Rafael and Madzie speak. "You guy's are in trouble.... Nix let's go find dad and make him play dress up with us. Come on" Amee says and runs towards us in the kitchen.

"Daddy come play dress up with us" She says and takes Alecs hand -"In a minute sweetie. Go on to your room I'll meet you guy's  there. I promise" Alec says and they nod satisfied. They run off and we listen to Madzie speak.

"It's not a big deal Rafael. He's actually really nice, he's thinking about seeing me over the summer. And meeting daddy and papa" She says I look at Alec who stares back at me and then narrows his eyes.

"Absolutely not. Do you really think dad and papa would be  okay with this? I'm not even okay with it. No boys Madzie. Ever. End of conversation" Rafael says. Madzie sniffs. "Your such an ass Rafael" She says in a tone of sadness and anger.

She storms off into her room and slams the door. We walk into the living room to see Rafael sitting alone with some broken pictures. I snap my fingers and they repair themselves and appear back on their spots on the wall.

"It was an accident. Sorry papa, sorry dad" Rafael says and we smile "It's okay. Accidents happen all the time. What happened?" I ask and he groans. Looking at us he sighs and lays down face first.

"Madzie. Shes starting to like boys. And I took her phone to see who the guy was. So she got mad at me and tried getting it back so I accidentally threw it against the wall and it broke" He says.

I laugh but Alec stays silent. "Did you say boys?" He asks and Rafael nods. "Um Alec? Are you alright?" I ask and he looks at me a panicked look on his face. "Boys Magnus. Our baby girl is starting to notice them" Alec says panic in his voice.

"Yes Alexander, I heard him say that. There's no reason to panic. I'm sure they are just friends" I say smiling and he sighs "We were just friends. Couple years later look where we are standing! A married couple a few years later with 5 kids. Having this conversation" He says stressing his words. I laugh and roll my eyes.

"It doesn't mean our kids will be in the same position. Come on Alec, I think you need to lay down. Rafael stay away from Madzie until we sort this out" I say and he nods. We exit the room and walk into ours.

"DADDY!!!!!!" Amee screams and Alec groans, we rush into her room to see her crouched up on the bed. "What's wrong sweetie?" Alec asks and Nix laughs. "There's a spider sitting on her Sweetie Pillow. I almost died" Nix says rubbing his neck.

I walk over to Amee and pick her up. She stays rigid until I leave her with Alec and remove the spider. I toss it outside the window and it lands on a plants leaf. I close her window and she relaxes. "Thanks papa. Can I take my nap now? We can play later Daddy" She says and we nod. I go to take her from Alec but he backs away slowly.

"Nope. You can meet me in the room my love. Go on I'll take care of it. You deserve some relaxation time" He says and smiles at me. I stand still for a minute before letting it go and smiling.

"Alright. Thank you. I'll see you in bed" I say and walk off. I had stayed in my pajamas so I crawl into bed and lay down face first. I hear Alec moving past the room to put Nix to sleep and soon after he walks in. "You don't mind if I shower do you?" He asks closing our door and I shake my head. He pokes my butt cheek and heads off to shower.

After a few minutes he comes back and slides into bed with me. "Magnus.. I just wanted to tell you" He starts and I sit up "Tell me what Alec?" I say and he smiles.

"Nothing Just that... I love you so much Magnus. Very very much" He says and kisses me softly but deeply. I return the kiss and he deepens it. He runs his hand down my leg and his other hand on my face. I smile into the kiss as I wrap my arm around his neck and put my other hand on his chest.

He pushes me against the head board and softly continues the kiss. We hear his phone start to go off and I start to stop but he stops me from breaking away from his touch. "No Magnus. Stay with me. That can wait, your more important" He says. And I feel my heart sway.

The sadness I felt melts slowly as he continues run his hand down my leg and my face. He stops and puts both hands on my face this time. He stares at me and smiles. "Your so beautiful, show me again" He say and I show him my warlock mark. My cat eyes.

He smiles and my heart soars out of my chest. His smile is the most amazing and beautiful thing he shows when he's happy and it melts my heart each time. He stares at me and kisses my head. "I love you Magnus" He says and I swear my heart explodes. "I love you to Alec. So much" I say and he smiles. We sit next to each other and in sweet silence we lay there holding each other.

In each others arms we stayed and ignored his phone the screaming inside the living room between Rafael and Max as they played their video games. Ignoring Madzie's yelling at them seeing as she's just agitated. I run my hand along his chest as we find our selves slowly falling asleep peacefully.
