Chapter 17- Heartbreak

Alec's POV

I drop my phone as I hear the kids scream for Magnus on the other side. I watch as Isabelle and Jace walk towards me and reach out. But I turn away and walk towards the weapons vault.

"Alec? What's going on?" Asks Isabelle and I groan "I just got a call from Magnus. There was screaming and someone talking to them. I think they're in trouble I gotta go home" I say grabbing my weapons and walking out. They follow me already having weapons in their hands.

I rush home as fast as I can with help from my runes. We arrive at my door and find it blasted and broken down. I feel my face pale and step inside. I look around and notice someone laying face down outside on the balcony where we put a playground. I rush towards then and flip them over.

"Madzie!!" I say checking her over as she breaths slowly. I hold her close to me as Jace and Izzy look around for clues. Jace finds something first. "Alec! I found Max!!!" He calls and I lay Madzie down. I get up and walk over to them. I kneel down next to Max and check him over. He's fine to. I look around for any sign of the others and Magnus.

Isabelle suddenly lets out a scream and I rush over to her. She points to something and I see a hand poking out as she starts moving the rubble surrounding it. I move it all off the person and find Rafael. I check him over he's fine except for some cuts and bruises.

I look around and see no sign of Magnus or the twins. I feel my heart shatter as Isabelle activates Rafaels healing rune.

Suddenly Rafael Sits up and looks Round breathing hard. "Dad?" He says with his eyes widening. I pull him close to me as his breathing slows down back to normal. "You're okay. Thank the Angel. Rafael what happened?" I ask him as he hugs me. He shakes his head.

"Phoenix had a vision but it was to late. Whoever he had seen was already here and took them. They're gone. I tried to protect them dad I swear" He tells me talking quickly. I hold him back from me, "Relax Rafael. I know you tried. It's my fault for not being here to protect you all. God I hope they're alright" I say and pull him back towards me. I look over at the others and sigh.

Suddenly Madzie lets out a scream. "NOOOOO!!" She screams and I rush over to her. "Madzie. Hey! You're alright baby. Your okay. I'm here, look at me. Your fine" I tell her as she struggles to get away from me. She stops when she sees me and looks back at Rafael.

"You're alive. But- Max?!" She calls and I shush her. "He's okay baby. He's fine he's just unconscious. Madzie what happened? Are you hurt? Rafael are you?" I ask them and they shake their heads. I look around at Max. He hasn't moved.

"What happened to him? I heard something over the phone and I rushed as back over as fast as I could" I tell them and they share a look.

"Nix saw something in his vision.

Then some guy showed up but he was to strong for us to fight off. He knocked out papa. Then when Rafael tried to protect us he used his magic and threw him against the wall and knocked him out.

Then I tried but he snapped his fingers and I couldn't do anything. I got knocked out as well but for a few minutes. When I woke up Rafael was trying to fight the guy off again and I went to join him but again he knocked us out. He took Amee Nix and Papa through a portal before that. And Max must have been frozen but it must have worn off and he must be asleep now. I'll fix him. Unless the spells worn off- Max!" She says crawling over to him as he suddenly starts to stir.

I go over as he suddenly starts coughing and gets on his hands and knees. After a minute he stops and looks at us. "Dad!! Where's Amee And Nix? Is papa okay?!" He asks and I shake my head. "You guys did you best Max. But they were taken. We don't know where. Please let them be alright. I won't rest until their back with me" I say as Isabelle helps Madzie up.

I look back at where Magnus had left his book. My heart breaks as I realize our fight might have been the last thing I said and did. I may have lost him and the kids. I hadn't said anything to them in case I snapped at them to. I feel tears come down my face as I look around and my eyes land on Jace.

He comes over and hugs me. There are no comforting words this time. He can sense how I feel. Isabelle takes thebkids inside as Jace stays there with me. "Come on Alec. You have to be strong now. Let's go look for them" He says to me and I nod. I swear it now once again. No one is going to spilt up our family ever again.

Magnus's POV

I look around as Amethyst Clings to me. I shush her as she whimpers. "Hush my dear. You'll be okay. I promise. Daddy's coming for us okay? You have to be strong for him. For us. Can you do that?" I ask her softly as she continues to sob into my , she looks up at me and nods.

"I think so" She says and I kiss her head. She slowly stops crying and goes to sleep. I sigh as I place her down on the small bed next to Phoenix who's been asleep the whole time since we got here.

"Magnus Bane, you really are quite a dad. It suits you" Says a voice from behind me. I turn and see someone I don't recognize. "Who are you and what exactly do you want from me and my children?!" I ask angrily and he laughs.

"I want your power. You're the high warlock of Brooklyn. Your extremely ancient and powerful. And your children are young and powerful as well. And you will all give me your power, now- you two grab the warlock I think it's time to use some.. Fun toys against him. Maybe It'll loosen him just enough" He says and his two guards walk inside the cell I'm in and grab me.

The drag me out and lock the cell behind us. I try to break free and go back for the twins but they hold on tightly and something blocks off most of my magic. They throw me onto some type of bed and strap me in. But not easily as I struggle to get free. One punches me in the face and I groan. I feel blood start coming out of my nose.

The other one laughs as he hits me with a whip. I wince but I don't let them have the satisfaction of hearing me scream. Not just yet. After a while they start getting creative. They bring in the twins and I glare. "Leave them alone!" I say as Amethyst and Phoenix stare me. They grab Amethyst and drag her by her hairto a smaller chair.

She screams and trys to break free. Nix rushes over but gets pushed down by one of the other men in the room. I glare at them and they snicker. "Let them go. They're just kids!!" I yell at them and Nix tries crawling towards Amethyst. But gets dragged back by the man who threw him down.

Nix groans and I watch as they slowly pull his arms out and the man who dragged him back stops on his wrist. My heart breaks as I hear Nix scream in pain. Amethyst shrieks and struggles to get out of the chair.

"LEAVE MY BROTHER AND PAPA ALONE YOU BULLIES!!" She screams as Nix cries in pain. I look over at her and she screams as one of the assholes in the room walks towards her. He takes out a knife and points it at her.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!!" I scream but he just ignores me and places the blade on her face. She tries backing away from the blade but she can't. I watch as she screams as the bastard pushes the knife into her face. He takes it out and she stops. Her face is red and her hazel eyes terrified and stained red with tears.

The blood on her face runs down her cheek as she tries to get away. I look back at Nix as the man once again takes the whip and swings it at him more then once.  He screams and tries to get up but ends up falling. His tiny little body goes limp after a few seconds. The guy next to me laughs.

"Poor Magnus Bane. Poor helpless Magnus Bane. Where's your oh so powerful magic Bane? It's unavailable for right now but as soon as you agree to give it to us you're magic won't be blocked off. I'm sure you're itching to protect the oned you love oh so very much. Isn't that right? Magnus Bane Lightwood" He says and I scream as he stabs me in the arm.

"ALEC!!!" I scream. I hope he saves us and if not all of us then the twins. I hope he knows how much I love him. My heart shatters as I think of leaving him all alone with the kids. I scream once more as they finish whipping me. They drag us back to the cells and throw us in ours and leave.

I hold the twins close to me as I wish and hope that Alec or someone please saves us soon.
