2: Train Ride
"Please don't tell me we have to walk through bricks to get to the train." Yeri complained as she and Wendy reached the middle of the train station. "That's way too much for me to handle."
"Of course we do, Yeri." Wendy said, frowning at her cousin's negative attitude. "This is Hogwarts, after all."
Yeri watched in confusion as Wendy grabbed ahold of her cart, before running straight into the "9 and 3/4" platform. Before she knew it, Wendy had disappeared.
"Great." Yeri grumbled. Wendy hadn't even bothered giving her any words of encouragement.
She patiently waited for bystanders to leave before taking a deep breath and running towards the pillar, wanting to get away from the crowd as quickly as possible.
Yeri braced herself for impact, only to realize that she was standing in a complete change of scenery.
Everywhere around her, other boys and girls - who Yeri presumed to be witches and wizards - walked around pushing carts full of books and magic materials; almost identical to the cart Yeri was pushing in her own hands. A long train was lined up to her right, and Yeri could already see people boarding it.
"Come on Yeri, stop staring and start running. The train's leaving soon." Wendy scolded her, grabbing Yeri's hand and leading her over to the train. Before entering, Wendy pulled out her wand. With a few swishes, both her's and Yeri's luggage had disappeared, presumably transported to the back of the train.
Yeri's eyes widened as soon as she stepped into the train. If it hadn't been for the velvet tables rearranging by themselves or the soft pastel-shaded pastries in colors of pink and yellow levitating, the train would have been just like any other.
Of course, there were other charming aspects adding to the intricate atmosphere of the train. A crystal chandelier hung exquisitely from the ceiling, and the pictures hanging in golden frames on the sides of the train were somehow moving.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Wendy said, snapping Yeri out of her thoughts. "It's my fourth year here and it still never fails to amaze me."
Yeri nodded, speechless.
"Just wait until we get to the castle." Wendy laughed. "Come on, let's go find a table."
Yeri walked hand in hand with her cousin as Wendy led her over to a table at the far right of the train. She grew slightly nervous as she saw two girls and two boys already sitting in the cushioned magenta seats. Most of them looked around Wendy's age if not older, and one of them looked around Yeri's age. Although Yeri was a bright student back at home and had a decent amount of friends, she couldn't stop the feeling of anxiety coming over her, likely due to the fact that she was about to meet other witches and wizards for the first time in her life.
"Guys!" Wendy called out, picking up her pace as she pulled Yeri along with her.
"Wendy!" A girl with dark, curly red hair stood up with excitement. "You're here!"
Wendy released her grip on Yeri's hand to hug the red haired girl and make quick "reuniting" conversation with her before gesturing to Yeri.
"This is my cousin, Kim Yerim." Wendy introduced Yeri, putting her arm around her shoulder. "It's her first year at Hogwarts."
"Oh, you're Yeri!" A tall, older looking boy with sleek, pink hair exclaimed, extending his arm out to shake hands with the raven haired girl. "I'm Kim Seokjin; Head Boy of Ravenclaw and a fifth year at Hogwarts. Wendy's talked a lot about you."
