11: Tricks and Disses

"I am truly this close to hexing you right now." Seulgi said, pinching her fingers impossibly close together in order to form a nonexistent space between them.

"Excuse me?" Jimin responded, faking offense. "I'm just saying, it wouldn't hurt to take some tutoring lessons in Herbology, Seul. Heck, even Yeri knows her stuff better than you do," he continued, ignoring Yeri's frantic hand-waving as an alternate form of protest, "and she's a first year."

"I'm really not." Yeri blurted out, not wanting to upset Seulgi due to her two years of age over herself. "I just had experience with biology before coming to Hogwarts, and it was rather helpful in this particular subject."

"You don't need to make excuses, Yeri." Seulgi said, lightly ruffling the younger's hair. "You're just naturally smart. Of course, I can't say the same for Jimin here."

"Hey, just because I'm a second year doesn't mean I can't take you down in the smarts category." Jimin argued forcefully, thus starting up another heated debate between the two "lovebirds".

"What'd I miss?"

Yeri nearly jumped as Joy's voice sounded directly behind her. She turned around to face the Slytherin girl, who had crept up behind her without so much as a light footstep to alert anyone in the group.

"Nothing much." Yeri responded quietly, turning back around to briefly watch the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff go head to head against whatever it was they were now talking about. "Same old, same old."

"Good to know." Joy responded exasperatedly, taking a seat beside Yeri at the table in the living quarters they were currently at. As she sat down, Yeri finally noticed the bags under the other witch's eyes, as well as the seemingly distressed mood she seemed to be in.

"Everything okay?" Yeri questioned Joy, somehow startling her even though she had just spoken a mere two seconds ago. "How'd tutoring go?"

"Ugh, awful." Joy complained almost immediately, throwing her head back dramatically and covering her face with her hands before dragging them back down in a frustrated manner. "I barely had any sleep to begin with, not to mention the fact that Seokjin is impossible. The minute I display any sort of damn confusion, he acts like I'm the most clueless person in the world. Who's dumb idea was this, anyway?"

"The Headmaster's," Yeri responded, "and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be happy if he heard what you were saying right now. He does have some sort of unspoken favoritism towards Seokjin; I mean, he is a Head Boy, after all."

"Wow, look at you. Finally learning." Joy spoke sullenly, crossing her arms and leaning her head back against the couch as she closed her eyes in mental pain. "Why couldn't you have gained my knowledge and just go along the school wreaking havoc with me?"

"Chill out, Joy." Yeri laughed. "It's not like Professor Hongki doesn't like you, either. He did make you a Prefect."

"Yeah, along with the two most unintelligent, jack-assed wizards in the world." Joy groaned. "I'm beginning to think he put me with Taehyung and Jungkook as a punishment."

Yeri nodded in unspoken agreement. She knew exactly what Joy meant, seeing as she had to spend at least three hours every day with Jungkook, which really didn't help the fact that the mere vision of his face made her want to jump off a cliff.

As if Joy had read her mind, she suddenly spoke up, pulling herself up from the couch.

"How are lessons with Jungkook, by the way? You two had any chemistry yet?"
