a/n: kind of a filler chapter due to the post-actiony chapter; expect fluff and pointless paragraphs to fill up the word count :( glad to be back and writing again! <3

Jungkook looked over to the spot where the three Headmasters and Headmistresses were gathered together, whispering to each other intently and nodding before separating from each other. He could see a tired, pained look on Madam Yoona's face as she looked back, flashing him a forced, reassuring smile— though not before he caught sight of her eyes; she looked on the verge of breaking down.

"Jungkook," Wendy's voice mumbled quietly, "you don't have to stay here."

The Slytherin turned his head to the look at the fourth year, his eyes softening.

"It's okay, Wendy," he murmured before turning back to the bed in front of him. "I don't think I can see myself anywhere else at the moment."

"I had no idea..." Wendy trailed off, lost in thought as Jungkook looked at her expectantly, "...no idea you cared about her this much."

Jungkook felt a pang in his chest as he looked down at Yeri — who was resting silently, her injuries slowly fading away; though who knew what was happening to her mental health — and back up at Wendy, who looked more tired than ever before.

"I didn't either," Jungkook admitted, sitting down at the side of Yeri's bed. He glanced around the room, watching as Sungwoo and Johnny stood at Mark's bed as he too slept silently. His injuries hadn't been as severe as Yeri's, but they were still detrimental to his health— not to mention the fact that he'd been completely traumatized.

With all due respect, Jungkook also found it rather strange that Mark's own brother hadn't bothered to properly look over him; yes, Taeyong had stopped by to check on Mark, but he hadn't even been there five seconds before insisting that his younger sibling was fine, proceeding to stalk briskly out of the room.

As for the girls of Beaubaxtons, it was practically impossible to pass by one of them in the corridors of Hogwarts without spotting an expression of pain or sadness. Jungkook couldn't blame them; one of their students had been murdered — brutally, if he might add — and it didn't mesh well with the usual giddy moods the girls used to be in. They planned on returning to their homes as soon as everything sorted out from the night of the ball.

The only positive results the Hogwarts students received out of this were the cancellation of classes for two weeks, as well as the jailing of Seunghyun's followers in Azkaban. After Yeri and Mark's disappearance, Jungkook had spent over an hour searching for them— desperately checking every corridor and room whilst involving the Headmasters, Headmistresses, and several other students in on his search. Upon finding the concealed room the followers had hidden themselves in, Hongki had blasted down the walls, uncaring of the mess he'd made in the school as they sent curses flying at the followers— Jungkook sending a few of his own before heading over to rescue Yeri whilst Jimin had gone over to untie Mark.

He'd been so scared, he remembered; so fucking scared that Yeri was going to die right there in his arms. There were blood stains on her arms, neck, and robes; Jungkook had nearly lost it.

Nothing, however, would have been able to amount to the horror shown on Madam Yoona's face as the dust finally cleared, revealing the body of her student. She'd rushed over to Eunbi's lifeless body, terrified as she checked for a pulse, only to find that there wasn't one. Jungkook didn't want to recall the awful memories that followed, opting on clearing his mind for just a moment as he reentered reality, staring down at Yeri's sleeping figure.
