1: New "School"
Yeri knocked over her glass of water, drenching the mahogany dining table.
"Hogwarts?!"
"You're a witch, Yeri." Wendy exclaimed in exasperation. "What did you expect?"
Yeri watched with prickling annoyance as Wendy conjured up her wand, making the flood of water on the table disappear.
Wendy, also known as Seungwan by birth, was a fourth year at Hogwarts and Head Girl of Ravenclaw, who also happened to be Yeri's cousin. Ever since the beginning of her childhood when she'd found out she was a witch, Wendy had been intrigued with magic; much unlike Yeri.
"Just because I'm a witch," Yeri visibly shuddered, "doesn't mean I like using my magic. And it definitely doesn't mean I want to go to Hogwarts."
"Sorry to break it to you, but you really don't have a choice." Wendy said with no traces of sympathy visible in her voice. She slid Yeri's acceptance letter closer to her. "All witches and wizards go to Hogwarts."
"Wendy," Yeri begged her cousin. "I have school. Real school. With mortals. I can't go to Hogwarts, it'll ruin my life!"
"Don't worry about school." Wendy said. "Mortal school is only to teach you the basics of life. Once you go to Hogwarts, you won't need school anymore. You'll easily find a job in the wizard world. Plus, Hogwarts has several classes you can take. You'll love it there, I promise."
Yeri anxiously chewed on her lip. "I don't know..."
"Yeri." Wendy sighed. "I know you never wanted this, but you have to accept it. Our family comes from a strong line of witches and wizards. We are at an advantaged level compared to mortals in this world. You'll find yourself becoming grateful for your magic once you enter the wizard world."
Yeri continued to sit there, silently contemplating her cousin's words.
"Yeri, even though you don't like it, I've seen you use magic before." Wendy continued. "Your level of magic is stronger than several other beginner-level witches and wizards I've seen. You just need to embrace it."
Wendy was right, of course. From the start, Yeri had despised using magic. She'd hated the thought of not being "normal", and wanted to be smart on her own. Being labeled as a witch within her family had upset her to a drastic extent.
Of course, there were times when Yeri had unintentionally used magic. One time, while Yeri was walking with Wendy around the neighborhood, Yeri had seen an injured dog on the side of the road, and it was only a matter of seconds before the dog fell unconscious.
Within a flash, Yeri had rushed over to the dog's side. In the midst of tears, Yeri had laid her hands down upon the dog's side. It was only then that Wendy had spotted the dog's injuries disappearing before her eyes.
Of course, Wendy had been shocked. Witches and wizards who had no experience using magic were often at much lower levels than that. Healing powers at a beginner stage signified signs of strong magic. She was quick to tell Yeri about her magic capabilities, but Yeri had pushed her away, refusing to believe that she had accomplished even the slightest bit of magic.
Fast forward to the present, and Yeri was still unsure of how to react to Wendy's words.
"Isn't Hogwarts dangerous?" Yeri asked nervously. "You know, with it's history in the Scotland?"
"I can't predict the future, Yeri. There's no telling what can or will happen." Wendy got up and sat down next to Yeri, squeezing her shoulder comfortingly. "But it's been safe for years. You'll learn so much, and I know you'll learn to love magic. I'll be there with you every step of the way."
Yeri sighed, reluctantly giving in. "Promise?"
Wendy nodded reassuringly.
"I promise." She said, hugging Yeri tightly.

"Yeri, the time it took you to get your Hogwarts materials was completely unrealistic." Wendy said exasperatedly, plopping down on the leather couch in their living room.
"Well it's not my fault those wands were so indecisive." Yeri grumbled, tossing her bags onto the other side of the couch and sitting down next to her cousin. "Like you said the last hundred thousand times, 'the wand chooses the wizard '."
"They were probably indecisive because you were too reluctant to embrace the magic." Wendy said dismissively. "Don't worry, you'll get over it once you reach Hogwarts."
"Speaking of which," Yeri said, pouring herself a cup of tea from the colorful iris set in front of them, "When are we leaving?"
"Tomorrow." Wendy said.
In less than a second, the cup was on the floor, shattered and broken as pieces of iris-colored china flew everywhere.
"Tomorrow?!" Yeri shrieked for the second time that day.
"Yes, tomorrow." Wendy said calmly, already pulling out her wand to clean off their living room floor. Due to being around Yeri more often than she should, Wendy was accustomed to this routine. If she had known any better as a child, she would have backed away from Yeri immediately after their first encounter. Being around Yeri often put Wendy in unnecessary danger.
"But I'm not ready!" Yeri complained. "I haven't even gotten to practice my magic!"
"You don't need to." Wendy responded. "First years don't know anything about their magical abilities; only that they have them. Aside from minor instances here and there, they have no real experience with magic whatsoever."
"Fine." Yeri said, finally calm. At this point, she'd learned that arguing with Wendy about Hogwarts would only raise her stress levels; something she definitely didn't need at the moment.
"Finish packing and get some rest." Wendy said, getting up and trudging upstairs. "We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow."

PLEASE READ:
I'm sorry to those of you who may be offended with the whole "Slytherin" "mean people" thing, no not all Slytherins are mean, but for the sake of this fic they will start out seeming mean. I'm not trying to stereotype them, I love Slytherins. Besides, they have backstories and you'll find that they indeed do have hearts. If JK Rowling can write Slytherins as mean people without the readers complaining, then I think I should be able to do the same without people getting upset. I don't mean to offend anyone at all. Thanks <3.
