The Affair

Chapter 24

Ryan's POV

I turned to find Thomas stumbling up behind me

"Oh dear, were you expecting to find your precious little damsel in distress perfectly perfect and waiting to be rescued" he mocked, he had blood coming out of his nose where I'd hit him, I hated that I'd done that but I didn't regret it

"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I yell as I shove him back against the wall, grabbing him by the collar

He smacked against the wall so hard that the room shook, he'd gone too far, hurting her was too far, it was all too far, I should've stopped him then but I damn well will stop him now

He tried to get out of my grip but I was much to mad to be beaten

I smacked him back against the wall then a right hook knocked him back to the ground as I let go of him

But I couldn't stop, I couldn't control myself, he hurt her, and that just flicked a switch deep inside me I guess

I went down to the floor and raised my fist to hit him again even though he was out cold

But then

"Ry?" I heard a really faint voice whisper from behind me

I let go of him instantly and was immediately by her side

"Chloe?!" I exclaimed as I carefully lifted her into my lap

"Ow, ow, ow" she complained

"What happened?" I asked but she just shook her head

"I don't remember, my head is pounding" she tells me there I realise it's not about Thomas, it's about her

I grabbed my phone and called the police who arrived very quickly just as Thomas was waking up, thankfully they got to him just before he started getting violent again

They took him out yelling and fighting every step of the way but finally he was gone

"Mrs. Doherty?" One of the officers came in asking as I managed to lift her onto the bed

"Do you have to do this now?" I asked, seriously hoping he didn't, I needed to take her to the hospital to get check out

"Medics are on their way to check her over and take her to the hospital if necessary, but until the arrive would you mind giving a statement?" The officer asked her but she was just looking at something on the floor

I went over, bent down and picked them up, they were her rings

"Keep them as far away from me as possibly" she spoke coldly

"Okay Chlo" I reply before putting them on top of the drawers

"What happened?" The officer questions Chloe again but she just shook her head again

"I don't remember it all, I remember him yelling and then he shoved me and I fell, then Ryan called me so I answered it and hid my phone hoping he'd hear what was going on and help me, I don't really remember much after that, it's a bit fuzzy" she tells him and then once he's finished writing it down he looks up and nods

"Okay, well, if you remember anything else then let us know and now Mr. McCartan can we take your statement now?"

Just then the medics showed up so I left Chloe with the medics while I gave my statement, he said because it was only self defence no charges would be placed against me which I was thankful for

I went back in and found the medics getting ready to take Chloe to the hospital

"Ry? Please come with me" she almost begged, clearly nervous at the thought of going to the hospital alone

"Of course" I replied, I took her hand and I kissed it gently "I'm always gonna be with you" I promised her gently with and smile and she smiled back

I guess sometimes things people say aren't meant to be, that go against what should be, are actually completely right

It was an affair, it should've been wrong

And yet it was so right
