I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. At least I thought it was the sun. Turns out it was Lewis, shining a torch in my eyes, shouting at me to answer my phone.
Frowning, I lifted the thick blanket from my legs and stood up, giving myself more room to pull my blackberry out of my skinny jeans pocket.
"Hello?" I mumbled, still half asleep.
"Alex-Marie Walker, where the hell are you?!" Carrie screeched on the other side of the phone, sounding completely peeved.
"I thought I told you, I'm at Sammy's?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah, that was at 11am, YESTERDAY!" She squealed so louad, I actually had to pull the phone away from my ear for a second.
"Ship, really? Darn, we must have fallen to sleep. I'm sorry, Carrie, I'll be home as soon as possible," I promised, hanging up. Turning back to face a still sleeping Sammy, I kicked her shin lightly. "Hey, get up, I've gotta go."
"Hmm?" She blinked herself awake, looking around the room.
"I'm leaving, Carrie's stressing, we fell asleep." I explained briefly, reaching for my jacket and heading towards the front door.
"Hold up! Hugs?" Sammy asked, opening her arms out as she approached me.
"See you later sweetie," I mumbled, kissing her cheek. "Thanks for everything, I needed that."
"Hey, remember, I'm always here for you." She grinned, patting my shoulder and lightly shoving me out of the door.
"Oh! Sammy! Before I forget, thought you might like to see you god-daughter." I smiled, holding out a picture of Elena and me for her to see.
"God-daughter? Aww, she's so cute!"
"Well yeah, you're like a sister to me anyway, so I figured why not?" I explained, shrugging. "Anyway, she you later chick!"
"Bye, chica." She mumbled, still looking at the picture in her hands.
Laughing quietly to myself, I pulled my car keys out of my coat pocket. Climbing into my car, I sighed. Time to face the music.
I pulled up onto the cobble driveway, not daring to enter the house.
"Come on, Alma, you're a big girl, you can face your sister. Of course you can, it's her husband you don't want to see." I sighed into the rear-view mirror.
A soft tap on my window made me jump slightly. I turned to see Carrie stood there, looking really mad. I sighed again, rolling the window down and plastering on a fake smile.
"What time do you call this?" She practically growled at me, eyes narrowed.
"Erm," I looked at the clock on the dashboard. "10am?"
"Don't get cheeky with me, missy! We were all so worried when you didn't come home last night, we thought you'd taken off and left Elena!"
"I would never do that, and you know it!" I growled, pulling my keys out and stepping out of the car, my own eyes narrowing at my sister.
"I knew it, but Andrew didn't, he was so worried, Alma." Her voice softened considerably at the end, making my gaze soften too. Andy was worried about me?
