Eden was checking her dress at the elevator's mirror. She hardly ever wore dresses, unless she had to. It was a long red dress that almost touched the ground beneath her high heels. It could have been so prude upfront that it would have been a perfect fit for going to church, had she added a veil on her perfect still chignon. Fortunately though, silk when sewed properly deprives vision from its imagination. She despised people searching her for guns so she made it easy for both. "You can check but you can't touch." She turned her back on the mirror checking the stripes' fitting. That part of the dress wasn't going to grant her entrance to any church whatsoever but it granted her VIP entrance everywhere else. Her skin was sparkling thanks to a carefully applied powder to her assets. A curl unfolding down her neck was almost covering her Janus' tattoo.
"This dress suits you. Vanity doesn't." Ofiss told her while standing in front of the door waiting for their floor without even looking behind his back.
"Vanity is beauty's flattery to temporary." Eden answered with a wicked smile on her face.
"Hold your horses, sweetie. With all that money spent on your body, even I would look fabulous in that dress." The tone of his voice was speaking volumes to every frenemy who never managed to keep his mouth shut.
"I didn't know that you were into dresses Ofiss. Once we are back, I will trade this dress for your leather."
"Too bad I am wearing my tuxedo right now and I am not into women Janus." Ofiss loved to hate Eden while she hated to love him. They never ceased to come up with new witty comments to irritate each other but they were like yin and yang as partners. They could fight each other with the bare fists and in case you tried to interrupt them, they would both punch you on the face and then go back to their fighting.
"I am glad that you finally realized the actual reason they decided that you should be my match. Oh! Wait. You still believed that it was your outstanding aiming with every type of guns that brought you here. Do you still think so little of yourself?" Eden whispered to Ofiss' ear.
"Keep your focus on our mission." Ofiss took a step back. "Our time frame is strict. Milo is here and we have no information on how he looks like. Be certain that you pick up the right guy because we won't get another chance."
" I still don't quite get while evolution hasn't wiped out men from the gene pool but I guess even evolution has a sense of humor." Eden noted self-absorbed, admiring herself in the mirror.
" It's deeply satisfying to hear that from someone who already knows that she's going to be removed from the gene pool. You were born a sterile abomination. You were created to take lives. You will never create or nurture one of your own."
"... told the man who can't stand to look himself in the mirror for fear that he will have to face that he never allowed himself to be what he really is." Eden's eyes sparkled in anger.
" Save your poison for the interrogation. You can't touch me sweetie."
" Oh, yes I can." Eden answered and grabbed his ass.
The elevator's door opened. A man in black tie was standing there, welcoming the guests. He looked at them in the eyes with a grimace of disapproval and gave them their cards with a slight bow.
"Oops! I apologize for that. I am notoriously bad on estimating time. It was a long ride with that elevator of yours. As we keep walking, take a look at his ass as well. I am sure that you will enjoy that view more than those closed doors." Eden whispered to the man's ear as he was taking her card.
"They should have added some class on your software." Ofiss pointed out irritated as they blended in the crowd.
"In case they did that, he wouldn't stare at your ass right now" Eden answered without even looking back. Turn around and check it for yourself."
"I don't have to. You manipulated him into doing that."
"Of course I did. Tonight I am taking Milo and you are taking him as a present."
"I don't have to kidnap men." Offis replied.
"Who said anything about kidnapping him? Check your left pocket. His phone number is already in there. You got yourself a date." Eden's wicked smile reappeared on her face.
