Chapter 24 - Date Night

Kailan had stayed over but had left for work early the next morning so Shannon woke up alone, after he had left.

She walked into the kitchen and found Darren sat at the table surrounded by sheets of paper and a pen in his mouth.

"What the hell are you doing Daz?" she asked him as she poured them both a coffee each and sat opposite him.

"Thanks" he said as he took his coffee from her "I'm trying to write my speech for the wedding"

"You've got plenty of time for that surely" she reassured him.

"Well yeah, we still have a good few weeks I suppose but it doesn't hurt to be prepared right?"  He replied

"I suppose" Shannon laughed "How's it going then?"

"Well......." He replied, pointing to the multiple screwed up pieces of paper he had obviously started but then given up on.

"Hmmmm" Shannon giggled.

"Might get Jack to write it" he laughed "That kid has got all the chat and the charm you know"

"I think you'll do just fine" Shannon replied with a smile.

"Which reminds me" Darren said taking a sip of his coffee "Have you seen Karen?"

"Not since I left you all at the café yesterday, why?" Shannon replied.

"Well nobody has seen her since then, so do you think her and Heath have hooked up?" He winked at her.

"Hang on, Karen has been missing since yesterday lunchtime and nobody thought to check she was ok" Shannon said, frantically looking for her phone.

"Calm down Shan, you know Heath, he's a good guy, I think she'll be perfectly safe" Darren said.

"And what if she isn't with Heath" Shannon said as she found her phone. With everything that happened yesterday, she hadn't noticed that her battery had died. She connected it into the charger and switched it back on.

"Oh, I didn't think of that actually" said Darren as Shannon waited for her phone screen to light up with power.

Her phone buzzed several times as the message icon flashed and she pressed it to read them.

Maxi: Hey English, hope you and Kailan got stuff sorted out – he's crazy about U :-) xx

Ryan: Got a job!!! Woop woop! Tell U all about it later xx

Karen: Going on a date with Heath! Don't wait up coz I probs won't be home tonight with any luck!! Eeeeek xxx

Shannon smiled as she read her messages and Darren looked up from his papers.

"I take it she's ok then?" He asked

"Yeah, thankfully" Shannon replied as she started picking up Darren's discarded speeches.

"Hey!" he shouted "Eyes off, you will have to wait till the wedding"

"Ok, ok" she laughed

Tristan appeared in the kitchen and poured himself a huge cup of coffee.

"We need to discuss tomorrow's stag and hens parties guys" he grinned.

"I don't care what you boys are doing but us girls are having a spa day" Shannon replied, laughing.

"Well obviously we'll be separate in the day but I was thinking we could all meet up in the evening?" he suggested
