Chapter 29 - Operation pre-wedding, here we come

Shannon woke before Kailan did so she threw on one of his shirts and crept out of his bedroom, went into the kitchen and clicked the kettle on. After searching almost every cupboard, she finally found teabags, made herself a cup of tea and took it out onto his small balcony. It was quite early so it was pretty quiet and Shannon found herself watching a group of birds who looked and sounded like they were chatting away to each other.

The sound of Shannon's phone buzzing distracted her from the birds and she swiped the screen to read the text message from Rachel.

Soz it's early but I am wide awake and stressing about everywhere we have to be today! :-/ Make me feel better please?? Xx

Shannon sighed and shook her head. Rachel did worry too much sometimes and the wedding wasn't even until tomorrow so how stressed would she be by then! She thought about her reply carefully so that she wouldn't make things worse though.

Don't stress ok. I have all of today's appointments written on a list and I have stuck it up on the wall in my bedroom : -) Now go and make a brew and go back to bed for an hour, I'll be home soon and I promise that everything will be fine xx

Shannon took a sip of her tea and hadn't even put her phone away when it buzzed again.

Shannon laughed quietly and turned around when she heard footsteps behind her.

"Why didn't you wake me?" asked a sleepy Kailan

"It's super early and you looked so peaceful" she replied as he leant down to kiss her on the top of her head.

"So Hoppo just called me" he started as he sat next to her

"Everything ok?" she asked

"He needs me to go in early I'm afraid" he said apologetically

"Well I've already had a stressed bride to be messaging me" laughed Shannon

"So I'm guessing I won't see you till the wedding then" he said as he reached for her hand.

"Probably not, unless I can work in a quick trip out for provisions later and I can detour past the tower" she laughed

"Sounds like I'm gonna be there till closing time so I think you should" he laughed back.

Shannon had a quick shower, got dressed and found Kailan in he kitchen making some sort of smoothie drink.

"Shower's free" she told him

"Thanks babe, I'll jump in and drink this on my way" he replied as he transferred the smoothie into a flask.

"Call me later if you can" he said as he pulled her into a hug and kissed her.

"Oh I'll definitely be able to call you" she replied "It's not a prison you know"

"I know that" he laughed "I just mean I understand it's girl  time and I get that Rach needs your attention more than me over today and tomorrow"

"You just keep an eye out for Darren and the rest of the boys and if you see them out drinking then you send them back to the hotel" she said sternly

"No worries boss" he laughed as Shannon kissed him goodbye and he walked her to the door.

Shannon drove the short journey home and as it was still quite early there was only a few surfers out and about and she arrived back at the house fairly quickly.
