Shannon had got hardly any sleep, despite drinking several of Jamie's strong cocktails so felt terrible the next morning.

"Oh dear" exclaimed Karen as Shannon shuffled into the kitchen

"Hmmm" came Shannon's reply

"Not being funny hun but you look like crap" Karen said as she started stirring a wooden spoon into a large bowl of thick, gloopy mixture.

"Thanks" replied Shannon "What are you making? Besides a huge mess that is!"

"I'll clean up don't worry" sighed Karen "I'm making cupcakes for Jesse"

Shannon couldn't be bothered to suggest to Karen that it seemed like the whole Jesse situation was becoming more than just a bit of fun.  She had enough to think about right now.

"Did you sort stuff out with Holly?"  Shannon asked as she watched Karen spoon the cake mixture into small paper cake cases.

"Tried to" Karen replied as she put the cupcakes in the oven and set the timer.

"And?" Shannon asked, impatiently

"Well she was pretty pissed at me but I think she realised that she didn't actually have a relationship with Jesse. Apart from in her head of course"  Karen replied

"So I'm not living in a war zone then?" Shannon asked

"Well I'm definitely not her favourite person but I think she'll make the best of it while we are all living together" Karen replied with a smile.

"Well that's good to hear"  Shannon said as she filled the kettle and clicked it on to boil.

"Are you ok Shan?" asked Karen "You seem a bit off today"

"Just had too many of Jamie's cocktails last night" Shannon replied as the kettle boiled.  She added the hot water to her cup and teabag and stirred in the milk.

"Oooh, don't envy you" laughed Karen "Those things are bloody lethal"

Shannon picked up her cup and left Karen to watch her cakes, went into the living room and sat down on the couch.  She spotted her mobile phone on the table and saw that it was flashing to tell her she had a message. When she picked her phone and pressed the power button, she saw that she had in fact received three messages, the first was from Kailan.

Morning babe :-) Thanks for setting my alarm for me.

Never would have made it into work otherwise xxx

She swiped onto the next message which was from Rachel.

Hey Bestie, should get back sometime this afternoon.

Loads of pics to bore you with! Lol xx

The third message was another one from Kailan.

Gonna have to work till finish tonight babe :-(

Most of the lads have come down with food poisoning so

only me and Jesse fit for work.

Will phone you later whenever I do finally finish xxx

Shannon's head was still thumping and she closed her eyes as she laid her head back on the comfy couch cushion.

"You look how I feel" croaked Tristan as he shuffled into the living room wrapped in a duvet.

Shannon simply groaned in reply, but managed a small smile at him.

"I'm guessing you need these too" said Tristan as he handed her some aspirin.

Ah, my hero" Shannon replied as she gratefully took them from him.

Tristan sat next to her on the couch, wrapped his duvet over the both of them and pressed the television remote control to watch some American reality TV show.

They watched a few back to back episodes of whatever show it was until Tristan announced that he was going to go for a swim to see if it helped his hangover.

Shannon's mind wandered to Kailan and what he had said last night.  He hadn't even mentioned it in his messages so Shannon didn't know if that meant that he didn't remember or if he didn't actually mean it and was pretending it hadn't happened.

The sound of the front door opening distracted her from her thoughts and she turned to see who it was. She smiled widely as she jumped up from the couch and ran towards Rachel who was being carried over the threshold by Darren.

"Well that's a lovely welcome" laughed Rachel as Darren put her down and Shannon pulled them all into a group hug.

"Am I glad you're home" laughed Shannon.
