Chapter 11 - Definitely a Date

The next morning Shannon and Rachel decided to go and get breakfast together and then go shopping. They stopped off at a cafe nearby and ordered English tea and bacon sandwiches and decided to sit on the small tables placed outside.

"So have you any idea at all where you're going tonight?" asked Rachel

Shannon shook her head and they both laughed

"Quite romantic though, I'd love it if Darren just took me off on a surprise date" said Rachel with a sigh.

"Stop calling it a date" said Shannon "He never said it was a date"

"Ohhh it's a date my friend, believe me" grinned Rachel

"Hmmmm" replied Shannon frowning

They finished their breakfasts and set off to a small clothing shop that Rachel had spotted on her travels. As Shannon was looking through a rack of dresses by the window, Rachel had already taken a pile of clothes into a dressing room.

BANG BANG BANG

Shannon jumped as she looked at the window to see who had just scared her to death by banging on it. Maxi and Jesse were stood on the other side of the window laughing and then they came into the shop,

"Bloody idiots" said Shannon

"Awww sorry English" said Maxi

"You buying something new for your date with Kailan?" asked Jesse pointing at the emerald green long summer dress that Shannon had in her hand.

Shannon got really embarrassed and turned back to the rack of dresses and carried on looking through them and she muttered "Who said it was a date"

"I say go with the green" said Maxi helpfully

Shannon turned back to them and smiled "Thanks"

"C'mon, we'd better get to work" said Jesse and they all said goodbye as Maxi and Jesse started to walk out of the shop. Suddenly, Jesse came back to Shannon and whispered in her ear "It's definitely a date" and he winked at her as he left the shop properly this time.

Shannon tried on and bought the long green dress while Rachel must have bought a whole new wardrobe!

They headed back to the house and found the rest of the group all sat in and around the pool. Someone had also started the barbeque and an argument had started about what to have for lunch. They eventually agreed on sausages and Karen offered to cook them.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with various games in the pool and quite a few beers except for Shannon who decided to keep a clear head.

Shannon decided to go and get ready a couple of hours before Kailan was due to pick her up. She took her time getting showered and then carefully blow dried her and gave it some loose curls. She applied a natural looking makeup with a smoky eyes look. At about 7:45pm Shannon went back outside where her now very drunk friends all turned to look at her.

"Sexyyyyy everything about you so sexyyyyy" sang a very drunk Tristan

"Who's the lucky guy then" said Tim

"That lovely lifeguard Kailan" Rachel answered before Shannon got chance

"But you hardly know him" said Tim

"She may not have known him long but it's long enough to know that he's twice the man you are" slurred Rachel while Darren put his hand over her mouth
