Chapter 49 - They aren't a patch on you

Shannon walked home slowly, taking in everything around her. She smiled at the kids running to the skate park and the families making their way to the beach. She waved at the few shopkeepers and bar staff that she had become friendly with over her time there and she slowed down, enjoying feeling the warm sun on her skin.

She stopped walking and looked out onto the beach, watching the sunbathers, swimmers and surfers. Whippet was talking to a group of children about safety in the water and he gave her a wave before they all cheered and followed him excitedly down the beach towards the water.

She turned back towards the direction of the house and walked, quicker this time and soon arrived home. Pushing the door open she could hear voices coming from the kitchen so she headed that way, finding Tristan and Jamie looking at something on the laptop.

"Well hello beautiful" sang Tristan

"What are you two up to?" she asked as she slid onto one of the barstools opposite them both

"Well you are out tonight on your swanky night out and Daz and Rachel have gone off somewhere for the evening too so we were just looking where we could go too" replied Jamie

Shannon smiled, pulled the laptop towards her and typed in the website address of a little bistro Kailan had taken her to once.

"Have a look at this place" she said as she pushed the laptop back towards them.

She left them to it and poured herself an orange juice from the fridge and drank the whole glass quickly.

"Thirsty?" laughed Jamie as Tristan phoned the bistro to book a table

Shannon nodded and smiled

"So what are you wearing tonight then?" Jamie asked

Shannon shrugged her shoulders as realised she hadn't actually thought about it

"All booked" said Tristan as he hung up the phone

"We need to help this one first" said Jamie as he grabbed Shannon's hand and pulled her along with him to her bedroom, followed by Tristan.

"Right" said Jamie as Shannon sat on her bed and he started to pull clothes out of her wardrobe

"What are we doing exactly?" asked Tristan as he sat next to Shannon

"We are finding the perfect outfit for Shan to wear tonight" Jamie replied as he held up a cream knee length chiffon halter dress and waved it about so the skirt floated and swished around perfectly

"This one, definitely this one" he said

"I'm on shoes" shouted Tristan as he dove at her shoe rack in the corner.

"I forgot I had that" laughed Shannon

"It will look fab with your tan" said Jamie

"Curl your hair too" added Tristan as he held up a pair of nude coloured heels

"Yeah, let's go for the total feminine look" agreed Jamie

Shannon laughed and Tristan and Jamie left her to have a shower.

Afterwards, she wrapped her hair in a towel and used her expensive moisturiser before drying and curling her hair carefully. She applied a couple of coats of mascara and a thin coat of lip gloss, slid on the dress and shoes and looked at herself in the mirror.

"You'll do I suppose" she told herself as she walked out of her room to find Jamie and Tristan for their opinion. She found them sat outside chatting.
