Chapter 50

They all said goodnight and went their separate ways with Tristan, Jamie, Shannon and Kailan all walking back to the house together.

They arrived back and went inside with Tristan and Jamie going straight to bed.

"Someone's gonna have a cracking hangover tomorrow" laughed Kailan

Shannon smiled but said nothing

"I'm shattered babe" he yawned "You coming to bed?"

"You go ahead" she said, giving him a kiss "I'm just gonna have a quick cuppa and then I'll be in"

Kailan disappeared off into her room and Shannon went into the kitchen and switched the kettle on. She heard the front door open and looked up to see Rachel and Darren appear in the kitchen doorway

"Good evening M'Lady" giggled Darren

"Go to bed you fool" said Rachel, irritated

"Right you are" he slurred "Goodnight Shanny Shan"

"Night" Shannon smiled

"Oh god he is so irritating when he's drunk" sighed Rachel as she sat on the kitchen worktop

"Brew?" offered Shannon

"You read my mind buddy" smiled Rachel "So how was your night anyway?"

"The restaurant was amazing so thank you" said Shannon, passing Rachel her cup of tea

"Good" nodded Rachel "I sense there is a but"

"Well it all went a bit wrong when we went to the pub after" sighed Shannon

"Uh oh" said Rachel "What happened?"

"Well long story short, I basically met our replacements and then took it out on Karen and was a right cow to her over the phone" said Shannon

"Oh" said Rachel, sipping her tea "Well you can apologise to Karen and she'll get over it but who the hell are our replacements?"

"Lizzy and Molly" Shannon replied, pulling a face

"Hate them already" snorted Rachel

"One of them told me not to worry, she'd look after the lifeguards once we've gone home!" Shannon continued

"What!" exclaimed Rachel

"I know right" nodded Shannon

"Well I bet they aren't as fabulous as us anyway" Rachel smiled

"Well they did all want to get away from them" smiled Shannon "And Maxi said they weren't a patch on us"

"Well then, there you go" said Rachel, chinking her mug against Shannon's

"Did you have a good night anyway?" asked Shannon

"We tried that Italian place in Bronte" Rachel replied "It was really nice, wish we hadn't left it so long to try it now, I'd love to go again before we leave"

Shannon sipped her tea and nodded but didn't speak

"You're stressing out about these English girls going for Kailan aren't you? " Said Rachel

"How did you guess" replied Shannon

"Coz I always know what you're thinking my friend" smiled Rachel

"It's just, one of them was really pushy and in your face" sighed Shannon

"I think Kailan is quite capable of rejecting her advances" said Rachel

(But what if he doesn't want to reject her) Shannon thought to herself.

Shannon and Rachel finished their teas and said goodnight. Shannon slowly pushed her bedroom door open and crept inside. Kailan was already asleep so she got changed into her nightshirt and tiptoed into bed next to him.
