Chapter 42 - Sounds like a plan

Shannon went to her bathroom to get a shower and as she rinsed the shampoo out of her hair, she couldn't get Rachel's words out of her head.

She wrapped her hair in a towel, put on her long bathrobe and wandered into the kitchen. Her friends had now moved into the living room so she picked up her phone from the kitchen counter and went to join them.

"Did you leave your phone here when you went off playing on the beach at the crack of dawn then?" asked Tristan

"I did" nodded Shannon "I didn't even take keys either"

"Well that was silly" he snorted

"You didn't even realise I'd gone so what does it matter" she replied

"Exactly! We all thought you were in bed but you could have been drowning or worse" he exclaimed

"Trist, I was with lifeguards" she laughed "Can't get much safer than that"

"Oh yeah" laughed Tristan "Didn't think about that"

"You fool" she laughed as she pressed her pin number and swiped the screen to check the messages icon. There was just one unread message and it was from Karen.

Hey Shan, sorry it's taken me a while but got confused with time difference and jetlag really bad coming home. Am ok, better now had chance to think. Am gonna call Jesse later and discuss me moving over there – I think if I can bring up a kid either in England or Australia then Australia wins! Been looking into visa – not easy, so might not even be an option anyway.Don't worry about me, enjoy your time with Kailan, see u when you get back to UK xx

"Hmmmm" said Shannon as she pondered over what she had just read.

"What?" asked Rachel

Shannon handed Rachel her phone so she could read the message from Karen

"Wow" she said, handing back Shannon's phone "That's pretty much a complete turnaround then"

Shannon nodded and couldn't help but feel slightly jealous that Karen was planning to come back to Bondi permanently.

"Who fancies the beach today?" asked Jamie "I am determined to at least catch one wave before we go home"

"Well you know I'll go" laughed Shannon

"To keep an eye on Kailan?" laughed Tristan

"No" laughed Shannon

"No, she just goes to drool over him" laughed Rachel

They all went off to get ready and Shannon decided not to bother drying her hair as it was going to get wet again anyway so she pulled it into a loose braid and put on her bikini and sundress.

Meeting the others in the kitchen, she remembered she hadn't replied to Karen's message.

She worked out that it was probably quite late in England and Karen would probably be asleep but she quickly tapped her reply anyway.

Sorry if this wakes you up – if I've worked it out right then you're prob in bed (it's nearly 10am here) Glad you're ok and that you're gonna call Jesse. He's working this morning so I'll let him know you're gonna call – just make sure you work out the time diff or you won't get any sense out of him! Lol! Proud of you : -)Ring if you need to talk xx

"Ready?" shouted Darren

Shannon threw her phone into her bag, grabbed her beach towel and sandals and followed her friends out of the house.
