Chapter 35 - He said he loves me

Shannon woke early the next morning and found herself in bed alone. She could hear someone moving around in the kitchen and presumed it was Kailan so she put on her bath robe and crept out of her bedroom quietly so as not to wake anyone else while it was still early.  She could hear Kailan talking and wondered who else was awake at this time, unless Kailan was talking to himself of course!

She walked into the kitchen to find Kailan and Jesse there.  Jesse was half dressed, with only one sneaker on and hurriedly trying to pull his tee-shirt over his head.

"So I'm guessing you stayed over too" said Shannon sternly

"Ah, er, yeah Shan" muttered Jesse "I swear I meant to leave earlier but I must have overslept"

"So where's Karen?" asked Shannon

"Still in bed" he replied quietly

"Jesse?" said a voice from the doorway.

Shannon turned to see Holly stood there, just looking at the three of them.  "What are you doing here?" Holly continued, looking confused.

"Errrm" Jesse started as Shannon stormed to Karen's bedroom and knocked loudly.

"Whaaaat!" came the very sleepy reply

"Karen, get up and come and tell poor Holly the truth" Shannon said quietly.

The door opened slowly and Karen's face peered out, sheepishly.

"Now Karen!"  snapped Shannon as she turned and walked back into the kitchen where Holly still looked very confused, Jesse looked embarrassed and Kailan just looked very uncomfortable.

"Kailan, we need to get ready and get going" Shannon said as Karen appeared.

Kailan nodded and they both went to her room to get changed.

"We'll have to get breakfast out I'm afraid"  said Shannon as they heard Holly shouting something about girl code and loyalty.

"Best idea I reckon" nodded Kailan "I mean, who wants to get in the middle of a girl fight"

"Jesse it would seem" replied Shannon "I am not getting involved though so let's leave them to it"

They dressed quickly, Shannon grabbed her beach stuff and they quickly crept past the kitchen, which was now just filled with the sound of Holly and Karen screaming at each other.

They walked towards the beach and stopped at a small coffee stand for breakfast.  They drank their coffees and ate their sandwiches as they walked along and stopped by the lifeguard tower so Kailan could get a surfboard.

"Good morning lovebirds"  yelled Harries from his position at the window with his binoculars.

"Hey Harries" laughed Shannon "How's it going?"

"All quiet so far" he grinned "But you know Bondi, anything could happen" and he laughed loudly.

"Keep it quiet then for this afternoon please mate" laughed Kailan

"I'll try me best"  replied Harries as he looked back through his binoculars again.

"I presume you have to work later then?" asked Shannon as they walked along the beach together.

"Hoppo needs me to close up that's all babe" Kailan assured her as he took hold of her hand.

"I'll let you off then"  Shannon replied with a smile.
