*I stay out too late
Got nothing in my brain
That's what people say, mmm-mmm
That's what people say, mmm-mmmI go on too many dates
But I can't make them stay......*I rolled over to turn off my alarm clock that was playing one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs. I started to groan as I realized it's the first day of my senior year in high school. Back to waking up at the ass crack of dawn. While yawning and stretching I made my way over to my closet to pick out my outfit for the day. Deciding on a lavender flowy blouse and some acid wash high wasted skinny jeans with my lavender custom made chuck taylor's my parents got me for my birthday 6 months ago (I turned seventeen) then topped it off with a jean jacket. Making my way to my bathroom I turned on the water to warm up my shower while I got undressed.
About twenty minutes later I stepped out and dried my hair with my blow dryer because my hair is so long that it takes absolutely forever to air dry. My hair reaches past my butt almost half way down my thighs. I've tried begging my parents to let me cut it but being Hawaiian they refuse to let me; hair is a big deal to them I never quite understood why. Anyway after finishing that long process I made my way back into my room to get dressed after doing that I called up my best friend in the whole world.
"Hey girl!!!" She practically yelled in my ear.
"Ughhhh it's too early for you to be so cheery stop it!" I said while chuckling so she knew I was messing with her.
"Sorry girlie what's up? Are you ready? If you are hop in that awesome car of yours and come get me."
"Yeah I'm about to leave now so be outside I don't wanna be late on the first day." I told her while making my way downstairs to the door.
"Such a do gooder! Girl you know I'm always on time now hurry up!" She said while laughing.
"Hey now don't rush me or you can find another ride." I told her and she gasped. "You wouldn't do that to me!"
"You're lucky I'm nice! Be ready in 10! I'm on my way out the door now." I looked into the kitchen for my parents and saw them at the table. My dad was reading the paper and my mom was making him breakfast. "Aloha Ohana I'm about to leave to pick up Kaiya."
"Okay hun have a good day in school." My mom said.
"Bye Lani make good decisions." My father tells me.
I love when he calls me Lani I always felt Aulani was a mouthful to say. Plus the only time he ever calls me by my full name is when he is mad with me so hearing him call me Lani always makes me smile.
I made my way out the door to the driveway where my baby was waiting. I love my car it's my heart it's a purple Volkswagen buggy. If you couldn't tell Lavender is my favorite color but my parent couldn't find one in that color and I wasn't about to ask them for a custom job. My parents went all out for me on my seventeenth birthday just by buying me a car and I was grateful. I love them so much! I unlocked my car and got in "Hey a'u pu'uwai," I said to my car with love as I put on my seatbelt. Yeah I talk to my car I promise I'm not a complete dork though. I pulled out the driveway and made my way to Kaiya's house.
When I got there I was happy to see she was waiting outside just like I told her cause we have like 15 minutes to get to school get our schedules and find our lockers. "Get a move on girl! We don't have much time," Kaiya told me as she got in the car. I rolled my eyes and made my way to our school which was like 5 minutes away without hitting all the red lights and I happened to get lucky this morning. I pulled into a parking space that was a little close to the school and we rushed to the office.
"How can I help you ladies today?" The secretary asked us.
"We just wanted our schedules and locker combos," I told her. "Okay names please," she said.
"Aulani-Elise Meilani Kahuanui and Kaiya-Leilani Kalea Jones," I said to her and she formed the most confused expression on her face.
"Wow that's a mouthful," she told us as we laughed "Yeah we know how about we just write it down for ya?" Kaiya asked her.
"That would be amazing!!" She beamed at us and we laughed again.
After we wrote down our names she found our schedules easily and told us our lockers stay the same as last year and just in case we forgot our combos it's on our schedule. We told her Mahalo and walked to our locker well more like ran to our lockers and situated our stuff before we rushed to class. We didn't have first class together so she took off in a different direction then me and as soon as I rounded the corner I ran into something hard, or should I say someone.
"I'm so sorry!," I said embarrassed. "I wasn't paying attention!" I finally looked up and saw the sexiest green eyes and realized who I bumped into, the school player Jackson Avery Ray.
He looked down at me with a curious smirk on his face and reached out his hand to help me up I took it and felt insane sparks go through my hand as I was getting to my feet. Suddenly he asked me, "I haven't seen you around are you new?" I shook my head, "No this is my last year I'm a senior just like you. I've had classes with you how do you not remember me?," I asked him a little annoyed.
He smiled a gorgeous smile and I started to blush despite myself.
"Well see you around," he said and walked off to class without answering my question.
At that moment the warning bell rang and I mumbled "Crap" under my breath and took off for class again. When I made it to class I found my seat just as the second bell rang and I let out a well needed sigh of relief. The day went by so slow and all I could think about was Jackson and his gorgeous smile, how he made me blush and his piercing green eyes. All I wanted more than anything was to see him again.
