It's been a month and a half since Jackson's party and he pretty much forgot I existed. I told Kaiya what happened and she almost confronted him at school the next day but luckily I stopped her. Other than the hurt I'm feeling things have been pretty good I've been keeping up in my classes and getting straight A's if I didn't I wouldn't hear the end of it from my parents. I was in my room reading and listening to music and someone knocked on my door, "Come in!"
My mom poked her head in, "I was just about to go to the store do you need anything?"
I thought about it for a second, "No I'm good thanks mom!"
She was about to close the door but changed her mind, "Don't you need pads or tampons? It's been awhile since you asked me to buy some."
My eyes widened for a second then I shook it off, "Yeah mom you're right thanks for reminding me!" I told her forcing a smile. She smiled back at me said a quick you welcome and left my room. As soon as I was sure she was out of hearing distance of my room I quickly called Kaiya. She picked up pretty fast, "I'm coming over we really need to talk!!" I yelled at her and hung up rushing out my room. I text my mom I was going to Kaiya's, cause my dad was at work, and to just leave the pads and tampons on my bed when she gets back. I rushed to her house when I got there I just walked through the door because I knew it would be open, they rarely ever lock the door when someone is home they trust their neighborhood. I ran up the stairs yelling a aloha to my second parents and they yelled aloha back.
I burst through her door, "Geez where's the fire?" She joked. When I didn't smile or laugh with her she instantly knew that something pretty big was wrong. "Why do you look like you've seen a ghost? What's wrong?"
"I'm late," was all I said to her.
"Considering we didn't have plans I don't think you're late, what's...."
Before she could finish I yelled at her, "No you don't understand I'm late!" She thought about it and her eyes suddenly widened.
"You mean?..." I frantically nodded my head. "Yeah I haven't gotten my period and you know I always get it the same day EVERY month!" It was taking everything in me not to cry. Why was I so stupid that night? My parents are going to absolutely kill me if I'm pregnant. I can't raise a kid at seventeen especially since Jackson is still acting like I don't live on this planet too. Kaiya distracted me from all my thoughts when she spoke up.
"You need to buy a test before you completely freak out maybe since you've been stressed more than usual it's messing with your period," she rationalized.
I calmed down a little, "Yeah maybe you're right. How am I gonna get a test? I don't have cash and my parents will know about the test if I use my credit card."
I started to freak out because if I don't buy the test and figure things out soon I was going to lose my mind.
"Let's go to a movie I'll ask my parents for some cash and we can buy the test on the way," she said. I instantly hugged her this is why I love this girl like crazy she keeps me level and sane. "That's an amazing idea! Thank you so much I don't know what I would do without you!"
"Honestly I don't know what'd you do without me either I brighten everyone's life," she smirked.
I laughed because leave it to her to make me smile in a moment when I'm losing my mind. We made our way downstairs and her parents gave us money for the movies and if we wanted any snacks. We got in my car and I drove to the closest drugstore to buy the test. The cashier looked at me with a disappointed look because I was so young and I don't know what came over me I just flipped her the bird because who is she to judge me? She looked back at me with a shocked expression and I simply walked out.
When we got to the theatre we had some time before the movie we chose started, Endless Love, so I went to the bathroom to take the test. I did everything and waited the amount of time the box told me to wait but I couldn't bring myself to look. I walked out the stall and Kaiya looked at me expectedly and said, "Well?!"
"I couldn't look can you do it for me?" I pleaded to her.
She sighed but made her way into the stall anyway and when she came out the words she spoke to me changed my world forever.
"Lani you're pregnant!" That's the last thing I remembered as everything went black and I passed out.
