Chapter 4

Minori's pov:
I sighed irritated, We were falling back. I brought my sword up as Sayuri came and said,"Abandon district!" I stopped and turned to her,"What about the people?" "This was a mere distraction! North...North is down!" I gripped my sword's handle as I looked at the breached wall. Black water just kept pouring in with some strange gas. I looked at Sayuri, her hair was already massed up, one of her twirled pig tails were sagging. Her pink hair dirty from her fighting area. I nodded and called,"My Unit! Retreat!" But before they could even follow my order more of them arrived. Their glowing eyes already visible, as they already began to dispatch their attacks. Different powers working in different areas.. different ways. I quickly turned to my unit and repeated my order. As the enemy approached I dispatched my sword once again, used some gathered energy I had, and swung my sword allowing a beam to strike down bellow causing the black water to backfire on them. This should buy us some time.

With that I nodded towards Toshiko as we ran jumping from building to building avoiding the poisonous liquid. As we arrived to the main building we realized electricity was down. Toshiko then yelled,"FUCK, We Won't stand a chance if we don't KNOW the formation!" Just then a swarm of black wind was approaching. Sayuri then spoke quickly, "We don't have any orders left to follow!" So it's a free for all hm? "Well we can't stay here we need to-" the black wind approached at a faster speed as if it has spotted us. Sayuri jumped in front of us and said,"I got this!" She summoned on of her huge shields that's about 5x taller than her, and slammed it in front deflecting the attack. Then her shield shifted to a smaller one as she said,"we have to take cover! If all electricity is down that means the government was attacked and possibly taken down" I nodded hesitantly as we looked at the unit we've stayed with. We only have 2 commanders and they seemed not to know anything either.

Sayuri spoke again,"We're too far from east and west, way too far...we'll have to fight or find shelter" the majority decided to take shelter as the rest went their own ways.

Nanami's pov:
North is down? I frowned...so then.. East is the only one that's still alive? I looked at the sky as it was beginning to grow dark. Night is falling...WAIT FUCK NO. I looked at Kaori and said,"oi, night is approaching, what are we going to do?" Tadashi spoke,"We won't be able to see hu?....hmm, if we could get help from someone.." I stayed silent waiting for them to think some more when I realized. Oh wait..I have night vision..ha ha...ha. I stayed calm and said,"we should just rest somewhere" Kaori said,"I suppose we can make a fire" I agreed, "yeah that'll work" Tadashi then said,"we're somewhat in the center...too far from south and north, where should we go?" I looked at Kaori as she said,"the mid center of all districts is far too..and I don't think that's a safe place to go to" I looked far ahead towards the south. But before I could say anything it was as if Tadashi read my mind,"Want to go to the south? I don't know if that's a good idea but I mean...no ones saying North is any safer" I nodded and said,"I have to find her" Kaori patted my back as we walked into an abandoned building. Well... it's not like the other buildings aren't abandoned. We settled down in the middle of this...restaurant? I went on ahead and looked for food as Kaori and Tadashi made a fire.

I found some soup and surprisingly I found dog food-HolyfukingshitIforgotaboutHasukī
I walked back to our base as it was already dark outside. Kaori looked at me and said, "what's wrong?" I forgot about Hasukī!" Tadashi sat up,"another sister?" I kicked him,"my dog and it's a boy." He rubbed his arm,"Sheesh...no need to be violent." He mumbled the last part even though I herd it perfectly clear. I sat down next to him causing him to flinch. I ignored him and said,"well..." I stopped since I saw Kaori pale. "What's wrong with you?" "Zenix hasn't shown up" "don't worry I'm sure that smart bird of yours is already searching for you" "but what if whatever attacked, got him?!" "well damn he's not that smart....is he?" Kaori sighed and said, "I don't know, let's just say his very well trained." Tadashi sighed as he laid down on the cold broken floor. He finally spoke after a few minutes,"goodnight" "wh-really?!" He turned to me,"what?" "You're going to sleep in a situation like this?" "Hey not everyone has animal abilities...fuking owl" I huffed,"ok ok.. sleep you bastard" he ignored me and soon enough he actually fell asleep. I looked at Kaori,"you should sleep too." "But-" "I'll be fine. Not all animal sleep at night" with that she smiled tiredly and laid down falling asleep after a few minutes. I looked outside the cracked window. Are you sleeping too Minori? I'll find you..even if it's the last thing I'll do.

Minori's pov:
We were taking cover in some abandoned clothing store. Why? One way window in here. Still we stood low as me and Toshiko were keeping watch. It's night and it was awfully silent. No lights, complete darkness. Toshiko narrowed her eyes as she silently pointed at something outside. I carefully looked and saw two people walking with..purple fire? They walked silently as they looked around. Toshiko whispered,"I think they're patrolling" I watched as they stopped in front of the store across from us. They walked in and after a bit boom! The store lit up in purple flames, they walked out unharmed. I then nodded at Toshiko as we stayed low and kept quiet. I herd their footsteps as they walked up to the store. I stayed calm as I saw some of our unit members a bit nervous. I raised my finger to them in a 'shh' manner. They nodded and some covered their eyes. I herd one speak,"No... there's nothing here" a female. "Are you sure? Cuz I did think I saw something in here" Ok that's a male. Wait...saw? I told Sayuri to get low. She did as we all stayed silent. I don't think anyone dared to breathe. I looked at the window from my position. They slowly began walking away. Once they were out of sight Toshiko spoke again,"Think someone was in the store across?" I nodded,"best we stay silent till morning" with that we stayed silent, wether some fell asleep or stayed awake It was their choice and I understood. Today's attackers were a shock to us. Who'd want to fight against demons? Banished People of our race? It was strange.. yes. Those who slept hope to make sense out of it in the morning. Those who didn't..know what we're standing against.

I? I wonder what the government's been doing all these years. Why people with such powers were kept hidden...why they drifted astray. Or is it because of their powers they weren't to be trusted? But who's to be trusted in the first place?
And more importantly...I hope Nanami is safe, Hasukī should be able to find her, I know I haven't told her about him..She must think the bell was just for decoration. I just hope he'll guard her well. So sleep tight Nanami. I promise you...I'll find you.
