Chapter 9

Kaori's Pov:

I closed my eyes at times when Hitomi went up slanted broken parts of buildings, using them like ramps. I mean yes I've been at extreme heights but her landing's weren't guaranteed! She often said, "Oh? and I thought we weren't going to make it" and "That was close" I took a deep breath as I saw another building I knew she'd use as a ramp. As I prepared myself for the landing -since I didn't want what happened to Tadashi and Nanami to happen to me- and as soon as we flew into the air I widened my eyes as I saw the building ahead wasn't in landing distance. It was as if we were running into a wall. I then said, "H-Hitomi?" before she answered me the wall in front exploded as we fell right inside, so the motorcycles have built in lasers? I sighed relieved as we began to get off of the motorcycles. I turned to see Tadashi and Nanami happy to walk around. I stretched as I herd Masaru say, "Kioshi?" We  turned to see he was looking out of the hole in the wall, in which we just came through. Hitomi then said, "Kioshi." He turned to see us as he simply said, "I hope you have a plan"

Hitomi just stared at her younger brother as she sighed and turned away, walking off into the building. We all exchanged looks and then decided to follow after her. It was silent but the day was was ending. I wonder if we're going to take shelter here. Just then Hitomi said, "We're here to retrieve some snacks" I looked around as I saw that this building must have been some sort of company. Which means.. there should be food in the first or second floor, but we are in the second floor I believe. Though Kioshi's comment seemed to make me cautious. What did he mean? Do they not plan things as a trio? Does Hitomi move without the consent of her siblings? I looked at the ground as I continued wondering. Then they must really trust her to be following her blindly.

Suddenly Hitomi stopped walking as we were halfway down the stairs to the first floor. She looked behind at us as she simply said, "Hold on" she continued down stairs as we waited for her reassurance. After a few minutes which painfully felt long she called out, "Come on down!" We walked downstairs as everything seemed untouched. I looked around as I saw some good snacks around. Nanami then said, "Awe yeah!" She was already looking through the cabinets. Kioshi soon joined her also looking for specific sweets. I rolled my eyes, they're so childish sometime- Ooooh I see gummies!

After about an hour of eating and searching we all got ready to sleep over the night. As we set up our sleeping areas Masaru said, "It's cold tonight" I snapped my fingers aiming at the ground as  a small fire began to warm us up. I laid down on the cold cracked floor. I caressed my dark purple hair as I wondered about Nanami. She doesn't show emotional break downs, she seems to be handling this pretty well though... I sighed as I closed my eyes remembering how I often saw her with her sister whenever she actually went out. I opened my eyes when a light breeze pushed in, making my fire dance. I wonder how Minori is doing...

Hitomi's pov:

I sat down near the fire as I was going to re braid my hair when Kioshi came and did it for me instead. His thin gentle fingers weaving my hair. I looked at my hands as I clenched them. Kioshi.. thank you for staying calm all this time. I felt as he handed me my left braid showing me he's done. I looked at my purple braided hair as it faded into white at the tips. I wanted to ask Kioshi how he's doing, how he feels, what he thinks... But I held back as I simply sighed as he continued braiding my right side hair. It was silent.. only the fire and breeze dancing together made light flickering noises. Nanami was on guard. I looked at her as she sat by the broken window looking out into the distance. Her sister is a patrol officer? I narrowed my eyes... to be sent to the South to fight in the front lines... she can't be just a patrol officer. Which means she's hiding something or... her sister's hiding something. I looked back down as I shook that thought away. She doesn't even know where her sister is... at least I know where my siblings are.. at least I'm with them. If I wasn't who knows what would have become of me.
