"OMG! SAB!"
I thought someone was being slaughtered like a pig when a girl's high-pitched shriek almost damaged my hearing ability. There I saw three familiar faces with their arms spread widely, up for an embrace.
"Shan!"
"Annette!"
The three yelled in chorus the moment they recognized each other's presence.
"Lucky Four, I miss you!" Shaneila was about to hug them when Sabrina suddenly pushed her lightly with a confused look.
"Lucky Four?" ulit niya. "Kulang tayo ng isa."
"Who?"
"Bulag ka ba?" Her eyes then shifted to mine. "Ah, there you are!" Sabrina passed between them and wrapped her arms around me.
"Maka 'who' diyan parang hindi kaibigan si Aubri ah," Annette joked.
"Edi sorry!" Shaneila rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at Annette before she ran our distance.
"Group hug!" And just like that, Annette joined the embrace I never asked. It was messy and would've ended with us on the floor if it weren't for Sabrina who took half the weight and intensity of the hug.
"Oh tama na." Sabrina was the first to break free and the two almost kissed the floor.
"Can you be a little careful? You're ruining the moment." Shaneila checked herself through the compact mirror she's always carrying.
"Kung makayakap parang ilang years tayong hindi nagkita eh two months lang naman," Sabrina laughed, the most feminine in-tune laugh I ever heard.
"Gaga, ikaw yung nauna." Annette pointed her finger at her.
I wasn't even given the opportunity to look at his face because it happened so quickly.
Sabrina is leading the way and after almost a minute of running, we stopped in front of a classroom with its door ajar.
"Here!" She pointed and we all walked inside. I was dragged and forced to hide behind the door after closing it.
"That was close." I wanted to ask who are we running for. They were acting as if it would be the end of their lives if they hadn't escaped that guy.
"Huwag!" sabay silang nagsigawan nang akmang bubuksan ko na ang pinto. Annette and Sabrina were holding the doorknob while Shaneila was holding my hand tightly.
"Okay, I won't. Calm down."
"In case you don't know, which seemed like you don't. It was the Student Council President," said Sabrina, almost rolling her eyes. "Kung nahuli niya tayo baka kung ano pa ang gawin niya at madumihan ang clean records natin. We're all consistent honor students, remember? God, it would be so embarrassing!"
Ah. That explains it. Student Council President pala iyon. For sure I'd recognize him if I saw his face. He was absolutely roaming around the campus to check if there were students who refused to listen to the ongoing orientation there at the school's covered court. Everyone is expected to be complete.
"Then why are you all in the hallway?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Shaneila was fanning herself with her hands so she could feel the refreshing air. If only we could turn the aircon on. But we can't, baka pagalitan pa kami kapag may pumasok na teacher o staff dito. "I got bored listening sa school rules."
