"FYI, HINDI NAMIN INAASA lahat sa kaniya 'no! Minsan nga lang kami magtanong ganoon pa yung isasagot niya. Nako, pasalamat siya marunong ako magpigil." Vicky asked for my help with the booth we will set up because Marcella, the Club President, refused to give ideas and instead urged them to brainstorm and not rely entirely on her.
"Then hold a meeting so all of us can—"
In the end, I tried to formulate some ideas. I gave her some suggestions and solutions dahil naaawa ako sa level ng stress na idinulot ng club sa kaniya para sa paparating na event. That's the least I could do.
"G!" She wrote something in her notebook after our thorough discussion. "Nakaka-stress maging Vice President niya ah. Buti nalang nandito ka. Sayang talaga, we would make a great partner."
And because of that, here I am in this boring booth keeping an eye on all the books despite my protest.
Vicky sighed. I know, students here mostly don't like books kaya nga ghost library ang tawag ko sa library namin.
"Go with your friends, I'll be alright here." I'm not but she clearly wants to walk around the campus. That's what the other three did while I would rather stay in one place. I'm saving up energy for the dance competition later at five in the afternoon. And if I'll leave with Vicky then who would guard this booth? Baka manakawan pa kami. Especially outsiders are now allowed to enter the school premises.
"Hindi na. Sasamahan na kita."
She's been a really good classmate to me. We've been seatmates for years dahil magkatabi lang ang apilyedo namin at in alphabetical order ang seating arrangement. It's one of the (unnecessary) rules of Lucky Academy.
Even though she hasn't said it, I can tell she wants to be my friend. However, I'm not particularly skilled at making new friends, though I still make the effort. Just not as comfortable as I am with Andrei and the other three. There's still a wall between us, preventing us from truly connecting.
"Mukha mo," puna niya.
"What about my face?"
"Maganda."
I wasn't in the mood to embrace his humor at this moment.
"You're right on the last part."
Landian pa more!"
"May nagpapabigay," sabi niya at mukhang kinikilig.
My forehead creased. Andrei's too, and he asked, "Sino raw?"
"Sekretong malupet," Vicky answered, dancing her eyebrows.
"Fine. I won't use this baka may lason pa," I said.
"Oo. Akin na nga." Andrei attempted to get the bottle from Vicky but she refused to.
