THAT NIGHT, I WAS pacing back-and-forth in my room, debating to myself whether I overreacted or was it justified. Because yes, while Andrei and I had several interactions here and there, it wasn't right to judge me that way.

Argh! I don't know! I don't know anymore.

After doing a few inhales and exhales, a notification sound suddenly echoed inside the four corners of the room. I checked it and it was Andrei on Messenger.

Above his message was a selfie from him. He was sitting somewhere familiar with a cellophane of Pan de Leche and Pancit Canton. Wait—how did he know my two favorite combos?

It took hours for me to finally admit one thing.

I hate to see my mom's disappointed face and scarring words when I lose against Sabrina. Hindi kakayanin ng pride ko. There I said it! Inaamin ko na. Andrei is right. He won and I lost! I lost against someone who didn't even know the existence of my personal battle.

At dahil doon mas lalong ayaw ko siyang kitain muna.

Sorry, Andrei but I prefer being alone tonight.

"SIRAULO, 'WAG NA kayong umasa hoy."

Sabrina led us to an eatery just a few steps outside the campus. The new official Student Council members were announced earlier during the flag ceremony, and it's been more than a week since that argument with Mama. After that, she refused to talk to me even after she heard my apologies multiple times.

Each party list's campaign started on Monday. On Thursday, our classes were cut short due to the Miting de Avance. Then on Friday, we had the election after dismissal.

"Dito! We both lowered our heads down because we cannot handle the second-hand embarrassment and the stares of the people eating inside.

When we got near to her, Shaneila immediately reprimanded her. They bickered a little more before Sabrina told us to sit down.

"Shouldn't you be happy that you won?" I finally asked Sabrina after all the commotion. She was quiet the whole time we were walking.

I got no answer. Instead, she looked at Shaneila and an apologetic smile formed on her face. She asked me to swap seats with Shaneila and I obliged without any further questions. Sabrina whispered something to her and after knowing, Shaneila looked a bit disappointed and a little annoyed but she chose to say nothing and just nodded.

They asked us what we want to eat before going to the counter. When I saw them coming back, I helped them carry the food.

"Wow, coming from you? When you're more chararat than Sabrina," angal ni Shaneila. I'm surprised she understood the word.

"Bakit ba lagi mo akong kinokontra?" Annette shot back.
