The Arrangement

Chapter 16

I followed the guy who brought me to a clinic. I didn't really think much of it but this is kind of weird. Why is this guy so nice to me? I'm not even an angel and I'm sure he's recognized that.
He knocked on the door and I looked around the street, it's so elegant....

" Yes its after hours, is everything okay?" The voice said behind the door very sweetly.

" Yes but, I was kind of hoping you'd help me out with this girl here." The guy opens the door and his eyes become wide.
" Eli? What are you doing out this late?" The guy with light brown hair and golden eyes looks down at me and smiles.

" What trouble, I thought I told you to wait for me to return?"

I examined his face a little bit more and gasped.
"A-Alex?!"

"Yes, Robin?" He laughed and the guy next to us looked confused.

" So you already know each other?" Alex nodded his head but his smile slowly grew stern and concerned.

" I will allow her to sleep here, you should go home and get some rest Eli."
Eli nodded his head and patted my back, "I may come visit before work tomorrow, get some rest Robin."

Eli walked off leaving me with Alex.
" H-hello..."

" Hm," Alex grabbed my hand tenderly and walked me into the clinic.
" Hello Robin." He smiled at me and stroked my hair.
" I didn't expect to see you so soon."

My tears began to well up in front of him, I could never hide my emotions in front of him. I've been terrified lately, after the whole Damien thing. I wanted to keep my composure but seeing him... I couldn't hold it in.

" Robin..." he wiped the tears from my eyes and sighed.
" I guess you already know what's going on then. It's still early but..."

" Its okay... I just felt like I couldn't hold it in."

Alex kissed my forehead and held it for about 10seconds.
" I know it's been rough on you. Maybe you should get some rest..."

I nuzzled my head into Alex's shoulder and his head rested upon mine, like he was cuddling something precious. I was happy to see Alex again. Even in his changed appearance, he was still the same.

" Night Robin..."

The next morning entered and woke me from my deep sleep. I looked around to the unfamiliar room and bed I was in. Where am I? I left the bed and exited the room.

" Good Morning." Alex's sweet tone rung through my ears. He held two cups of tea in his hand and sat one down in front of a seat.
" It's herbal tea, so you can relax a bit and put off some stress."

" Thank you." Oh yeah... I'm currently in Alex's clinic.
I took a sip of my tea and looked at Alex who also drunk a bit of his.

" So... I'm guessing the only reason your here is because you went to go meet the king?"

" Yeah...," I felt a bit sullen and remembered how I left Gin behind.
" I left someone behind after taking a look at the heinous contract..."

He sighed and closed his eyes like he was thinking of something.
" I figured it wouldn't be a pleasant one thanks to Xander... I wonder if it's okay to even keep you here? "
He sighed and looked at me with a smile on his face.
" So who accompanied you?"

" A reaper named Gin."

" Gin?" Alex's face twisted a bit in confusion then bursted into laughter.
" Gin Hamadate! He took you here? Gosh he's changed!"

" Changed?"

" Yeah." He began to reminisce in the olden days and I admired his handsome features.
" Gin was... more or less a crazy guy, you couldn't tell him anything, and he wouldn't be so nice to anyone but I guess the women he married did impact his life... but sadly...," his face looked distant and he sighed.
"It's not my place to speak, I should probably call him and let him know your okay..."

" Yeah can you please tell him I'm okay."
He nodded and I sighed. Once again Gin is a mystery in himself but what should I do now... I know I still have to go see the reapers. I looked up at Alex as he talked on the phone with Gin.

" Oh... so your taking her there next?" Alex said in a worried manor, almost as if he was against it.
"I know that he is the prince and all but Gin... you know how your king is... and I know that no one can even change his mind . He's cruel to everyone, worse than Xander and his father combined."

Worse than them? I didn't think it was possible, but I suppose it's to be expected from someone who has constantly seen death.
I listened to his conversation continue but he eventually came to terms with what Gin said.

" You'll be leaving in a few minutes, Gin's on his way to take you to see his king..." I could tell the hint of worry was in his eyes even though he put on a brave smile in front of me.

" I'll be fine ." I smiled at him to reassure him and he patted my head.
" I know, Daniel will be there for you..."

"Danni? " I guess both of my friends were hiding this from me... but I guess I can't be mad.

" When you leave, I want you to be wary of Gin..." he put his hands on both my shoulders and stared at me intensely.

" why?" I responded with an anxious tone.

" Gin is directly under the king, he carries out all his orders no matter how crazy... I want you to be careful."

I looked at him in disbelief, Gin didn't seem like the guy who'd do anything to me but maybe I was being naive.
" Daniel will be there right? So can't he protect me..?"

Alex shook his head," Not even he has that much power. I believe he'll help you the best way he can though, if I'm correct... Daniel knows you'll be coming soon."

The anxiety rose in my body... great.
As he saw the look on my face, he kissed my eyelids and gave me a huge tightly. When Alex does stuff like this... I want to be with him...
