Unexpected Love

Chapter 3

  Another typical school day went by and there are only two days left for the party! I realized I didn't have anything to wear so I needed to go shopping. When I got home I texted Jenny to meet me at the mall so we could look for an outfit. I looked through my purse and realized I didn't have enough money so I ran downstairs looking for my mom.
   "Mom! Where are you?"
"In the kitchen honey! Come and meet our guest."
    A what? As I got closer to the kitchen I heard a womans voice.  When I looked at her I was awestruck. She looked like a model, with long red hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a peach colored pencil skirt and a white blazer, with a diamond necklace around her neck. She looked rich. I wonder who she was...
   "Mia this is Mrs. Cortez. She's new around the neighborhood, and just moved into that nice mansion uptown." Wait? The mansion the huge party was going to be at?
   "Hi Mrs. Cortez, nice to meet you," I said while shaking her hand. I wondered if she knew about the party but decided not to say anything about it.
   "Oh! You can just call me Angela," Mrs. Cortez said with a beaming smile.
  "It is really nice to finally see you! I know you might not remember me, you were just a few months old when I first saw you," she started.
    Wait, she knew me?
    "Your mom and I have been friends for many years now and when I heard she lived around here I decided, well, why not check this place out. I can see this place is really beautiful! I love it!"
   "Well I'm very happy you like it," I answered.
  "Oh and you have to meet my family! I'm here to invite you and your family over for dinner tonight if that's not a problem."
   "It's no problem at all!" answered my mom.
   "Well then it's set," Angela said while getting up from her seat.
   "I should be leaving now. I need to pick up my son from his boxing class. See you guys later."
   And with that, she was out of our house.
   So she had a son... I wonder how old he was? Maybe he's cute. Shoot! I almost forgot about the mall.
   "Mom! I was going to ask you if you could give me some money to go buy something at the mall."
   "Honey, you can't go to the mall today. You just heard that we're going over to Angela's house. I'll give you money but you'll have to go tomorrow. And we're leaving around six."
   "Ugh! Fine!" I went up to my room and texted Jenny:
-Hey plans for the mall cancelled! I have to go over to a new neighbors house for dinner. And guess what!?? Its at the mansion the huge party's going to be at!! Oh! and they have a son! Can't wait to find out if he's cute... I'll text you later with all the details!! TTYL :) Love You ♥

  I ran to my closet to see what I would wear. What do you wear that is both formal yet attractive, just in case this guy was cute. I decided I was going to play it safe and chose to wear a casual outfit. I took out my favorite black pencil skirt, red flowy tank top shirt, and my red flats with rhinestones on the top. I quickly showered, blow dried my hair, parted it through the middle, and then gave each side a little wave so it would look a bit curly. By the time I was finished it was 6:00 P.M. so I had a few minutes to do my makeup. I decided on a natural look since the occasion wasn't really that big and a bit of eyeliner and mascara.
  "Mia! Are you ready?" my mom yelled.
  "Yeah, I'm coming!"
   I ran down the stairs and almost tripped. The millionth time I've tripped on these damn stairs. I freckin hate these stairs! One of these days I'm going to fall and break my legs. I got into my moms car. She had a shiny black Escalade that I was super jealous of. I have a car as well but not as luxurious as my moms. Mine is an old- school vintage car, and even though it was an old car it looked pretty new.
   On our drive uptown, we passed by so many big houses and mansions that looked like famous people owned them. I wondered which mansion was theirs. We started slowing down when we got close to the most beautiful, majestic, and castle looking mansion I have ever seen!
   The driveway snaked towards the house and I noticed all the plants surrounding  us were a variety of colors and there were many distinct flowers I had never seen before, but they were gorgeous. I also noticed a tall and wide marble fountain surrounded with elephants with water coming out of their trunks. I think they're supposed to be good luck.
   "Oh my lord," my mom sighed. "This is the biggest house I have ever seen yet."
   "Exactly what I was thinking mom," I whispered awestruck.
   When we neared the entrance, I noticed Angela walking towards our car and smiled. She was wearing an aqua blue flowy dress, and on her feet were golden sandals. She looked like a damn goddess! I wonder if she was ever a model. I need to remind myself to ask her later.
   We got out of the car and Angela enveloped us in a warm hug.
  "You guys made it! Come on in and make yourselves at home," Angela said leading us into her home.
   "Your house is AMAZING," I said dumbfounded.
   "It took quite a while to construct, but it came out even better than I imagined," said Angela. "Now come, follow me into the dining room."
   As we followed her in I could smell the different scents of food. I hadn't realized I was starving until my stomach started growling. My mouth became watery and all I could think of now was the food.
  Then out of nowhere came a male voice. "Mom is the food ready?"
   As I turned back I couldn't believe my eyes. I saw the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on! He looked to be 17 just like me. He had dark black hair, and he had his mother's blue eyes. This family seemed so perfect, though someone was missing... And then he appeared right behind him. The father, Mr. Cortez, was like a second version of the guy but older.
   "Oh honey! I would like you to meet the Rodriguez family. This is Jennifer," pointing at my mom,"and this is her daughter Mia."
   "Very nice to meet you ma'am," said the hottie,"my name's Jason," he said shaking her hand.
    "And you must be Mia," Jason said almost in a whisper. Aaaahh! I was soo nervous I didn't say anything for a good 3 seconds but mentally kicked myself knowing I would humiliate myself if I didn't say anything pronto. I came to my senses and finally uttered,"Hi Jason." How embarrassing! This is all I could say? Really Mia, I thought to myself.
Oooh Jason! His name suits him. And the way he said my name was soo sexy!
    "And I'm Mr. Cortez, but you can call me Marcus," Mr.Cortez said while shaking our hands. "So let's get down to business and start eating shall we?" He said laughing while escorting us the rest of the way to the dining room.
   The dining room had a huge oval-shaped table with a chandelier hanging right over the middle of the table. It was adorned with napkins,  and plates were already set with forks, spoons, and knives. Wow this place was fancy!
   My mom and I sat on one side of the table, Mr. Cortez at the head of the table, and Angela and Jason right across from my mom and I. I couldn't help staring at Jason. Everytime it seemed like he would look at me I turned away as fast as I could. The next time I tried turning away I got a cramp in my neck and almost yelled, but held it in so I wouldn't make a fool of myself.
   "Are you ok?" Jason asked. Crap, I didn't think he'd noticed. How embarrassing!
   "Yeah! I'm perfectly fine!" I answered, trying not to flinch. Right then the food had come, thank goodness, and Angela served us all a big portion of food. Thank goodness for that too because I was starving! I tried not eating like a pig in front of Jason but I was starving so I didn't really care at that moment.
   When I looked up I saw Jason eating the same way. I started laughing out loud and made everyone stop and stare.
   "Ooops. Sorry," I apologized. Jason had also stopped but he had pieces of food on his cheek.
   "You have something on your face," I pointed out holding in my laugh. He tried cleaning it but didn't really catch where it was.
   "Here let me help you," I said getting a napkin and leaning across the table to clean it off. It seemed like everything stood still, and all was quiet, and the only two people in the room were me and him.
   Someone had coughed and broke the trance I was in. I sat back down in my chair and finished my food.
   It was almost time to leave and in between eating I had heard that Jason was coming to my school, Puma High. I'll be able to see him everyday!
   We said our goodbyes, but Jason had actually walked me to the car. My mom was still chatting away with Angela and Mr. Cortez so we were left alone. I really hoped I didn't say or do anything stupid.
   "Hey, so maybe you could show me around the school when I start next week," Jason said.
   "Yeah I'd love to," I answered. He took out a little white paper with a number scribbled on it.
  "Here. So you can text me where to meet at school and stuff. Well you can text me anytime, not just for school, cuz that would be boring," he chuckled, and then paused. "I would like to know more about you too by the way," he confessed nervously.
  "I'd love to know more about you too," I answered shyly.
  "Oh and I hope you're coming to the party I'm hosting..." he whispered. "It's this Friday. Kind of secret because my parents don't know. You'll have alot of fun if you come."
   "Yeah! I'm actually coming with a friend, soo I'll be here," I said probably looking all giddy. My mom had stopped talking to Angela so she hugged her goodbye and Jason seemed hurried.
   "That's great! Well then text me when you can, and I'll see you here Friday!"
   "Alrighty then. See you Friday! Goodnight Jason," I said.
   "Goodnight Mia, sweet dreams."
    His last words to me, and they felt like everything! I was soo happy, I probably will dream of him tonight.
I can't wait to tell Jenny. And I can't wait till Friday!
