Mia's POV

As I closed the door I kind of got thirsty so I went to the kitchen to get water. I couldn't stop thinking of Jason and his kiss. Oh how I wanted to keep kissing him. I took my heels off as I went to the living room and turned the lights off from the kitchen. As I turned the corner to the living room I see that on my couch was Cole!
"Holly fuck! Cole! You scared the shit out of me! What are you doing here!?" I screamed.
"I came to talk to you, about Jason..." he said. "I've been waiting an hour actually but I didn't think you'd stay that late at dinner with HIM." Crap. I really didn't want to talk to him about Jason.
"Well cuz I had a good time. Does my mom know you're here?" i asked.
"Do you think I'd break into your house?" he asked looking shocked.
"Haha no, just asking since I don't see her around."
"Yeah she went to sleep. She said I could stay as long as I want. I'm guessing she thinks there was a problem at my house and that's why I came over cuz I needed someone to talk to," he said. Cole's family was a total wreck. Parents were always fighting. Mom had an alcoholic problem. Dad was a druggy. Anytime Cole couldn't take it anymore he'd come over. Cole had come over almost everyday so my mom got used to it and she would let Cole come whenever he pleased. Maybe she really thought there was another problem.
"Hmmm, yeah she probably does. Well umm I need to go change I don't know if you want to come up...?" I said hoping he would stay in the living room.
"Why do you sound so uncomfortable? I've been in your room thousands of times," he said. Why did I even ask? We were always together for everything. I think maybe because now that I know we sort of have something, it felt different.
"Yeah, I know, I don't know why I even asked," I said confused. Cole led the way up the stairs but my feet were killing me from the heels, that I had to limp. Out of nowhere Cole grabs me and carries me wedding style to my room.
"Cole!" I whispered trying not to scream.
"I am only helping a damsel in distress. You were taking a while and saw you were limping," he explained.
"Yeah, the heels kind of wrecked me. You know I don't really wear heels," I said.
"What are you talking about? I know you don't wear heels at all!" he remarked, letting me down on my bed. "You know... I give really good foot massages."
"Oh my God! You would do that for me?" I whispered. I seriously needed one, and right now a foot massage sounded great.
"I'd do anything for you Mia," he whispered back looking into my eyes so I knew he was serious. I acted as if I didn't notice though.
"Alright let me just change into my PJs which are way more comfortable than this thing," I said looking down at my dress. It had started to get a little tight and uncomfortable.
"I'll get the lotion while you change then," he said sounding disappointed.
I headed to the bathroom and took off my dress. As I was putting my PJs on Cole says," Hey I think the door is open cuz I'm smelling something funny out here. Did you fart?"
"Eeew! No I didn't fart. It must be you," I laughed. "You have better not been looking through the crack of the door," I yelled. I noticed the door was a crack open and I quickly closed it.
"No. I was too busy choosing which lotion to use on your feet," Cole yells back.
"Sure you were," I answered and I hear Cole laugh.
I had my favorite PJs on. A silky pink pair. Much more comfortable than the dress.
I laid on my bed and remembered why Cole had come. "So you wanted to tell me something about Jason?" I asked not liking where the conversation would lead but wanting to get it over with.
"Yeah. I don't like that guy. And I don't like the fact that you went on a date with him," he said, squeezing some lotion onto his palm.
"Wait you know him?" I asked.
"I don't," he admitted. "But I have heard ALOT about him, and what I've heard are not rainbows and sunshine."
"You haven't even met him. He might not be what other people blame him to be," I said trying to defend Jason.
"I don't know. I just have a bad feeling about him," he stated starting to rub my feet with his hands. Damn that felt good I couldn't hold back a moan.
"That feels so good Cole," I whispered. I realized too late that to Cole it would have sounded totally different than what I thought. I had my eyes closed but I risked peeking at him to see his reaction. He was staring right at me! I knew it. Way to go Mia. You're turning him on, I thought.
I felt him stop and he seemed to have moved so I opened my eyes only to find him right in my face.
"Mia," he whispered. My heart started racing and I seemed to have frozen. I couldn't move.
"Cole," I whispered back. Why did he make me feel this way? It was frustrating, but I liked it. I didn't know what to do. I just came back from a nice date with Jason and next thing I'm in my room alone with a guy that has feelings for me. I'm such a slut, I thought. He started leaning in and I could smell his cologne. Mmm, it smelled really good. He finally closed the space between us and kissed me. Gently at first but then more passionate. He moved so that he was ontop of me and slid his hands up my thighs where my silky shorts slid up and opened. His hand went up further and cupped my butt giving it a squeeze. I didn't think kissing him was a good idea but it felt good I didn't stop him. I really am a slut, I thought. He used his other hand to go under my shirt and it gave me the goosebumps. Not because it was cold but because I liked the way his touch felt against my skin. I shouldn't be doing this! I was trying to give Jason a chance to know me and maybe even more, and I'm over here kissing another guy. Well he's not just another guy, but if Jason found out he'd feel betrayed and probably not talk to me.
I gently pushed against his chest and tried to catch my breath. I appreciated how I didn't have to struggle for him to listen or get the point. He silently stared at me, still over me, but he looked confused.
"Cole... I know we have a thing between us," I started. "But I just came back from a nice date and I'm figuring out if maybe that date is going to go any further. What just happened, I think is unfair to Jason, and we shouldn't have done that."
"Mia. Jason is not a good person. I just know it! I don't want to see you get hurt," he said with a look of concern.
"If I do get hurt I know I have you here to support me. Cole I just need to try this out and see where that takes me. Obviously if it doesn't work out it wasn't meant to be and I made a mistake. People make mistakes," I said turning the lights off.
"Everyone knows that Mia. I just don't want to see you cry or mull over him after you realize it was a mistake," he answered lying next to me.
We stared at the ceiling for what felt like forever until I started to doze off. I moved my hand looking for Coles and when I found it I squeezed.
"I really do like you Cole, I don't want to see you get hurt either," I whispered. "Promise me we'll still be best friends if anything happens." I moved to my side to get a look at his face and what I saw made me regret what I said. He had his eyes closed but he had a sad expression on his face. Of course it wasn't going to be the same between us. Cole would be devastated that I chose Jason and we wouldn't be as close anymore.
"I can't promise you anything," he answered.
"Forget I said that," I whispered. I was awake for what seemed like hours and realized Cole had fallen asleep. I just laid there staring at him and realizing that me and Cole had so much history and memories. Fun and loving memories. I couldn't live with the fact that we wouldn't be best friends if I chose Jason. But what was I supposed to do. My feelings for both of them were all jumbled up and I hated how it was confusing.
But as I stared at Cole I knew one thing.
"I love you Cole," I whispered as low as I could, and sleep finally overcame me.
