A/N: This is part 1 of my take on the hostage situation.

For once Emilia Frances wasn't woken up by the sound of her alarm blaring or Jay pottering around, no, today she had been woken up by a trail of soft kisses down her spine.

Jay rested his head on his girlfriend’s shoulder and watched the sleepy smile that crept up on her face.

“Morning” Mia smiled, her eyes still closed.

“Morning babe” Jay returned. He looked to his girlfriend who slowly rolled to her back.

Lifting her hands, Emilia clasped Jay’s face and pulled him down towards her until their lips met.

“Are you sure you're going to be okay to work today?” Jay's voice was laced with concern. He really didn't want Mia to go to work today, since she had been sent home yesterday he was certain that there was more to her story than just suffering from the flu. After all, it was now July.

Emilia smiled before she let out a sigh. "I gotta get up for work."

"You get in the shower, and I'll put some coffee on" He said as he slid from under the covers.

The firefighter followed in suit, lifting the patterned duvet from her body revealing her wearing one of her oversized 51 t-shirts, from the bundle she had been given before and her shorts. She wandered to the bathroom where Jay was walking out of.

"You okay, babe?" He asked gently.

Emilia looked to him, his eyes showed more care and passion than anyone she had ever met before, she wanted so much to tell him their news.

“I love you, you know that, right?” she said, her teary eyes concentrating on Jay's.

He chuckled, pressing another kiss to her forehead. “I love you too. But what's wrong sweetheart?”

Emilia shook her head, her lips pursed together. "There's something I need to tell you." She needed to tell him. Jay looked worried as he waited for Emilia to continue. "It's- I guess I'm just stressed." But she couldn't.

"Tomorrow," Jay tucked a lose strand of hair behind his girlfriend's ear. "I'm going to take you to the doctors, and we are gonna make sure you're okay. I'll come with you" He offered gently.

Mia nodded softly. "Thank you."

After her shower Emilia joined Jay where he sat on the sofa. Upon her arrival he jumped up and poured her a coffee, not that she intended to drink it.

"Thank you" She smiled as she accepted the hot beverage.

They sat in silence, whilst Jay thought about his day ahead, Emilia looked towards the dozens of boxes that had yet to be unpacked. She knew they would have to sort them out. She'd have to get Matt and Kelly around. She thought. They would help, she already knew Jay had arranged for Will to help him on his day off.

Emilia looked to the clock. 5:05. She had to get to work. "I'm off" She announced to Jay who sat watching the Blackhawks match highlights.

He looked up momentarily. "Okay. Come home if you don't feel right, yeah?"

Emilia nodded.

"Love you" He called as Mia picked up her bag and keys from their front door.

"Love you too. Be careful" She smiled before she left their home.

Parking her mustang behind Kelly's car,  Emilia headed into the firehouse with her bag over her shoulder. As Mia walked towards the apparatus floor.
